Philadelphia 76ers wing Paul George has been ruled out for the rest of the season after receiving injections in his left adductor muscle and left knee, the team announced Monday.
The 34-year-old spent the past week consulting doctors. He’s dealt with groin, finger, and knee injuries at separate points this season.
George reportedly took pain-killing injections for five games before the NBA All-Star break.
The nine-time All-Star signed a four-year, $212-million max deal with the Sixers this past offseason, but he appeared in just 41 games in his first campaign in Philly. He averaged 16.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 4.3 assists over that span.
Star center Joel Embiid will also miss the rest of the season to rehab his own knee injury.
The Sixers sit 25th in the NBA with a 23-44 record. Their first-round pick in this year’s NBA draft is top-six protected and will otherwise go to the Oklahoma City Thunder.
