Iggy Azalea claims Britney Spears isn’t ‘exaggerating or lying’ about her father Jamie – Music News

Iggy Azalea has voiced her support for Britney Spears, claiming she “personally witnessed” how Jamie Spears behaves towards his daughter.

The 31-year-old rapper, who collaborated with the pop superstar on Pretty Girls in 2015, has released a statement in support of Britney amid her conservatorship battle with dad Jamie.

Despite saying previously that she had been forced to sign non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) which would prevent her from talking about her time with Britney, Iggy returned to Twitter on Wednesday night with a lengthier statement, in which she claimed she had been witness to Jamie’s behaviour.

“It’s basic human decency to at the very least remove a person Britney has identified as abusive from her life. This should be illegal,” she wrote. “During the time we worked together in 2015, I personally witnessed the same behaviour Britney detailed in regards to her father last week and I just want to back her up and tell the world that: She is not exaggerating or lying.”

Britney claimed during an emotional court hearing last week that the way Jamie was governing her during her conservatorship was “abusive” and declared that she wanted to sue her family.

The Australian star continued to claim that Jamie made her sign an NDA before their 2015 performance at the Billboard Music Awards.

“I saw her restricted from even the most bizarre and trivial things: Like how many sodas she was allowed to drink. Why is that even necessary?” Iggy continued. “Her father conveniently waited until literally moments before our BMAs performance when I was backstage in the dressing room and told me if I did not sign an NDA he would not allow me on stage. The way he went about getting me to sign a contract, sounded similar to the tactics Britney spoke about last week in regards to her Las Vegas show.”

Concluding her statement, Iggy wrote: “Britney Spears should not be forced to coexist with that man when she’s made it clear it is negatively impacting her mental health. This is not right at all.”

While Britney is making moves to request the end of her conservatorship formally and legally, her motion to have Jamie removed as her co-conservator – filed last November – was denied by a judge on Wednesday.
