Euphoria Season 2 Teaser Shared by Zendaya Brings First Look at New Episodes

When it hit screens back in 2019, Euphoria caused a storm of controversy around its high-school based story that indulged in sex, drugs and violence. Despite some seemingly missing the point, that the show allowed these and other issues, such as abuse and addiction, to be explored in detail, the majority of viewers couldn’t get enough of the show. Starring Zendaya, the series was an instant hit and was immediately renewed for a second season. Now it seems that the actress has suggested it is not long until we finally get to see the second season arrive on HBO Max.

After the end of the first season, it was thought that Euphoria season 2 would get underway filming very quickly in 2020, but as the pandemic would dictate, delays in filming instead led to the arrival of two bridging special episodes, which aired in December 2020 and January 2021. Production on the second season began anew in March 2021 and shooting started in April, so it would seem that we don’t have too much longer to wait to see the new Euphoria episodes arrive. Zendaya teased the new season while commemorating the 2nd anniversary of the first episode’s air date.

Posting a short clip on her Twitter account – with the comment, “Happy 2 year @euphoriaHBO anniversary…see you soon:)”, fans immediately began retweeting the post, in the belief that this is a sure sign that there is not much longer to wait for the return of the series. One fan replied, “I liked first season of #Euphoria so much and the two special episodes that were released after are just masterpieces. I loved the specials even more. Happy 2 year #EuphoriaHBO anniversary. Very excited for season 2. Looking forward to Rue and Jules journey.” Another added, “Girl when? I’ve been waiting forever.”

Euphoria is loosely based on an Israeli miniseries of the same name, and follows a group of high school classmates who have to deal with all the things life throws at them during the pivotal time in their lives. The series received huge praise from critics who noted everything from cinematography to the acting of all concerned, especially that of Zendaya and co-star Hunter Schafer. Its approach to the adult subject matter, which led to the nudity and sexual content that caused much of its controversy, was also the subject of much praise, all of which cemented a second season very quickly.

While there is still no actual word on when the new season of Euphoria will arrive, and Zendaya could just be playing with the expectations of fans by hinting she will be back on screens soon, it is the first real sign that things are moving forward with the new episodes.

Meanwhile, fans of Zendaya herself will have to make-do with her big screen appearances as the voice of Lola bunny in Space Jam: A New Legacy, as well as her upcoming appearances in Dune and of course her return as MJ in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
