Tropical Storm Henri attacked parts of the East Coast with up to 10 inches of rain, causing postponements of sports events in the region. Rhode Island experienced a blast of high winds and record-smashing rainfall on Sunday. The storm’s center was located at Hartford and Connecticut on Sunday at 8 p.m EDT, with winds blowing 35 miles per hour.
The National Hurricane Center argued that the storm is likely to weaken to a tropical depression on Sunday night and further weaken on Monday. The hurricane center added that the regions such as Long Island, New England, Eastern New York, and northeast Pennsylvania. The big question is, how will this catastrophe affect the MLB odds?
Most affected regions
In his afternoon briefing, President Joe Biden approved emergency declarations zones in Rhode Island, Connecticut, and New York. The president urged governors to take advantage of FEMA and recover funds. On Sunday night, Henri was forecast to slow down and possibly stop near the Connecticut-New York border. On Monday, there was a possibility of northeastward motion across northern Connecticut and Southern Massachusetts. A slow forward speed indicates an increase in rainfall. The storm banged the regions well before landfall. According to the National Weather Service, New York experienced the wettest day in seven years on Saturday. Central Park experienced 1.94 inches of rainfall from 10 to 11 p.m recording the wettest hour of the city’s history.
Dan Mckee, the governor of Rhode Island, said that the state suffered a significant blow, and about 720000 homes and businesses experienced blackouts at 5 p.m ET on Sunday. National Grid added that coastal towns were highly affected by the outages. About 300000 people are yet to lose power during the storm. McKee suggested restoring power to the affected homes and businesses is his priority on Tuesday when temperatures hit the 90s.
On Sunday morning, Cranbury, New Jersey, had 9 inches of rain. Brookly recorded more than six inches, and Central Park recorded five inches. The governor encouraged residents on Fire Island to evacuate.
Safety during the storm
Governor McKee urged residents of the affected to prepare for a storm and remain at home. He also emphasized that venturing out of their premises would put their lives and responders at risk. Colonel James Manni claimed that residents followed orders to shelter themselves, but a significant safety problem was those who ignored them.
On Monday, a rainfall of about three to six inches in Long Island, New England, southeast New York, New Jersey, and northeast Pennsylvania was anticipated. Hurricane Center added that the maximum total could hit 12 inches. With such rainfall in the region, residents have no choice but to avoid going into the water.
Connecticut residents were alarmed by GOV. Ned Lamont, to prepare to shelter from Sunday afternoon to at least Monday morning.
Power outage
We had a record of about 30000 power outages by Sunday afternoon. Tropical Storm Henri led to the cancelation of a superstar-Laden Central Park concert that was meant to celebrate New York City’s recovery from Coronavirus. Officials requested the concert goers to leave Central Park during Barry Manilow’s set amid the threat of lightning.

The match scheduled for Sunday was postponed to Monday, September 13th at 2:05 p.m ET. Fans were encouraged to use their tickets for Sunday’s game on the rescheduled date or exchange them for other season Yankees games. However, those who acquired their tickets through the Commissioner’s Initiative for kids must use them for the rescheduled game. COMP tickets or equivalent tickets have no cash value and do not have any additional benefits offered by dollar tickets.
New York Liberty vs. Los Angeles Sparks
The WNBA match set to kick off on Sunday at 2 p.m ET will continue as planned but only without fans and the media. However, tickets will be refunded or rescheduled. The game is set to be live on YES Network and ESPN3.
Boston Red Sox vs. Texas Rangers
The Boston Red Sox were to battle with the Texas Rangers at Fenway Park on Sunday, but the match was postponed and scheduled on Monday at 1: 10 p.m. ET. It is confirmed that tickets of the original date and time will be honored.
Northern Trust final round
PGA announced based on the projected Tropical Storm Henri warning issued by the National Hurricane Center on the tournament’s location, and there will be no play on August 22nd. The finals were postponed to Monday. The Northern Trust is located at Liberty National, sitting tight to the water just across the bay from New York. It is projected that the storm will affect the west on Sunday. Tee times and groupings for round 4 will be available by Sunday afternoon. The game is said to start no earlier than 7:30 a.m. on Monday. All preparations are aimed at having a good time and getting a winner on Monday.
