Kevin Can F**k Himself Gets Renewed for Season 2 at AMC



AMC has renewed Kevin Can F*** Himself for a second season. Created by Valerie Armstrong, the series premiered on AMC in June to great success, earning high viewership and positive reviews with critics. Weeks after the series finale aired, the network put in the official order for season 2. Consisting of eight episodes, much like the first season, season 2 of the show will debut on AMC and AMC Plus in 2022.

A dark comedy series, Kevin Can F**k Himself stars Annie Murphy as Allison McRoberts, a stereotypical sitcom wife unhappy with her marriage to her obnoxious, man-child husband Kevin (Eric Petersen). Hoping to break free from this unhappy existence, Allison seeks to take the lead in her own life. By switching between multi-cam and single-cam formats, the series shows the contrasts between Kevin’s sitcom-like world and Allison’s journey to escape from it.

“It’s Kevin’s world, Allison’s just living in it. Or is she? This series was built on a novel and unique concept, and the creative team on both sides of the camera, led by Valerie and Annie, delivered a highly entertaining first season that really got people talking and rooting for the sitcom wife as never before,” said Dan McDermott, president of original programming for AMC Networks and AMC Studios, in a statement. “We are excited to see this talented team move from the finale’s cliffhanger and continue Allison’s journey, pushing the bounds of conventional storytelling every step of the way.”

Series creator Valerie Armstrong added: “We’re so grateful to AMC for giving a home to our weird little show. Creating the first season of Kevin Can F**K Himself and getting to tell this story has been the joy of my life. We couldn’t be more thrilled to be stuck in Worcester with Allison for another year.”

Armstrong also serves as an executive producer on Kevin Can F**k Himself alongside showrunner Craig DiGregorio. Rashida Jones and Will McCormack also executive produce through Le Train Train. Along with Annie Murphy and Eric Petersen, the AMC series stars Mary Hollis Inboden, Alex Bonifer, Raymond Lee, and Brian Howe. Jamie Denbo, Sean Clements, and Robin Lord Taylor appear in supporting roles.

Annie Murphy was previously best known for her role as Alexis Rose on the comedy series Schitt’s Creek, which earned her an Emmy for Best Supporting Actress along with a Screen Actors Guild Award. There’s more for fans of hers to look forward to as well, as she has also been cast for the second season of the Netflix series Russian Doll with Natasha Lyonne. Her other TV credits include Crank Yankers, The Plateaus, Flashpoint, and Beauty & the Beast.

It seems likely that season 2 of Kevin Can F**k Himself will follow a similar release schedule to the first season. Episodes of season 1 were made available on AMC Plus one week before airing on television, giving subscribers a chance to view AMC shows early. It’s not clear at this time when season 2 of Kevin Can F**k Himself will start filming or when it might premiere on AMC. This news comes to us from Variety.
