Every Seinfeld Episode Will Finally Be Streaming on Netflix This Fall

We finally know when Seinfeld is coming to Netflix courtesy of an amusing new ad released by the streamer. Back in 2019, the company spent big money to acquire the exclusive streaming rights, and we are now just one month away from the show’s debut at its new home. As revealed in the new video, which you can watch below, all 180 episodes of Seinfeld will officially start streaming on Netflix on Oct. 1, 2021.

In the clip, a narrator explains, “This fall, get ready for 2021’s hottest new show. Well, not actually new, but never seen before on Netflix. A spectacular, breathtaking, outrageous 180 episode premiere, with heartwarming love stories and lifelong friendships. Created by rising stars Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld.”

“Larry and I are enormously grateful to Netflix for taking this chance on us. It takes a lot of guts to trust two schmucks who literally had zero experience in television when we made this thing,” added Seinfeld in a statement. “We really got carried away, I guess. I didn’t realize we made so many of them. Hope to recoup god knows how many millions it must have taken to do. But worth all the work if people like it. Crazy project.”

Previously, the series had been streaming exclusively at Hulu as part of a $150 million a year deal for the sitcom. With the streaming wars having heated up significantly in recent years, Netflix reportedly shelled out the big bucks to acquire Seinfeld for a move to the streamer in 2021. The specific terms of the deal weren’t disclosed, but it is believed that Netflix paid more than the $500 million NBCUniversal spent on The Office for Peacock and the $425 million WarnerMedia spent for Friends for HBO Max.

Created by Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld, Seinfeld aired for nine seasons between 1989-99. Inspired by Seinfeld’s life as a working comedian, the sitcom features Jerry playing a fictionalized version of himself. Also starring as his friends are Jason Alexander as George Costanza, Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Elaine Benes, and Michael Richards as Cosmo Kramer. The series has since been considered one of the greatest sitcoms of all time.

Seinfeld may have been off the air for many years, but the series remains very popular with its fans. Recently, LEGO unveiled a new set inspired by the series featuring a miniature version of Jerry’s apartment complete with figurines of Seinfeld and pals. A new soundtrack for the series was also released in July for the first time from WaterTower Music. Meanwhile, fans can catch more of Jerry with his series Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee also streaming on Netflix.

All 180 episodes of Seinfeld will officially start streaming on Oct. 1. Until then, the series can not be found streaming as it left its home at Hulu in June ahead of its Netflix premiere. There isn’t any doubt that losing The Office and Friends were big blows for Netflix, but with Jerry and the gang heading over next month to the streamer, this will help them keep up with the streaming wars.
