True Story First Look Photos Unite Kevin Hart and Wesley Snipes as Brothers

Netflix has unveiled first look images of True Story, the upcoming miniseries starring Kevin Hart and Wesley Snipes as brothers. The series serves as a loosely based interpretation of Hart’s life as a comedian, as he plays a character based on himself. As can be seen in the images, the photos reveal his relationship with Snipes from both sides of the spectrum, going from hugging to heated arguing. The series is set for a release exclusively on Netflix in November.

In True Story, Hart plays Kid, one of the world’s most famous comedians. He kicks off his stand-up comedy tour with a stop in his hometown of Philadelphia and comes into contact with his wayward older brother Carlton (Snipes). The consequences of a lost evening become a matter of life and death, as Carlton coming into Kid’s life threatens to destroy everything the comedian has built.

Along with Kevin Hart and Wesley Snipes, True Story stars Tawny Newsome, Paul Adelstein, Will Catlett, Chris Diamantopoulos, Lauren Lond, Ash Santos, and Theo Rossi. Eric Newman (Narcos: Mexico) serves as writer and showrunner. Hart executive produces through his HartBeat Productions banner alongside Newman for Grand Electric. Mike Stein and Tiffany Brown are overseeing for HartBeat Productions.

“I’ve never been more excited about an acting project in my career,” Hart said when the project was first announced. “I’ve always been a fan of Wesley Snipes and working with him is mind-blowing. Having HartBeat Productions at the helm and working alongside Eric Newman as a partner and creative arm has been unreal, nobody is ready for what this show is going to be.”

Newman added: “Kevin Hart’s career is one defined by courageous creative risks and Wesley Snipes is a legendary talent – together they are truly a dream team. I am absolutely thrilled to be working with these two. As always, I am grateful to Netflix for their continued support, as well as to Charles Murray, Stephen Williams, and Hanelle Culpepper for their creative partnership.”

Wesley Snipes, who might be best known for starring in the Blade movies, has had a bit of a career resurgence as of late. The actor appeared in the comedy sequel Coming 2 America with Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall, and many fans felt that the actor stole the show as General Izzi. He also had roles in the movies Dolemite Is My Name and Cut Throat City along with special appearances in the shows What We Do in the Shadows and Paper Empire.

Meanwhile, Kevin Hart has become one of the most well-known comedians in the world after picking up roles in major Hollywood blockbusters. This includes his standout role as Mouse in the Jumanji movies, a role he should be reprising soon enough as Jumanji 4 is now in the works. He also starred in the acclaimed drama Fatherhood, which was released on Netflix in June. His other upcoming projects include playing Ace the Bat-Hound in DC League of Super-Pets and Roland in the Borderlands movie.

True Story is set for a global release on Netflix on Nov. 24, 2021. The 8-episode series is shot in Los Angeles and Philadelphia. You can check out the official first look photos below.
