The Boys College Spin-Off Ordered at Amazon

The college-set spinoff of the hugely popular comic book series, The Boys, has been given the greenlight at Amazon. The series, which was first announced towards the end of last year, will be watched over by Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters, who will step in as showrunners following the exit of Craig Rosenberg.

The spinoff will be set at America’s only college exclusively for young adult superheroes, which is of course run by Vought International. The currently untitled series has been described as an “irreverent, R-rated show that explores the lives of hormonal, competitive Supes as they put their physical, sexual, and moral boundaries to the test, competing for the best contracts in the best cities.”

Much like The Boys, the G-Man series will be produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon Studios. Fazekas and Butters serve as showrunners and executive producers, with The Boys creator Eric Kripke on board to executive produce via Kripke Enterprises along with The Boys executive producers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, among others.

“Much like ‘Mork & Mindy’ spun-off from ‘Happy Days’-which is an insane and true fact-our spinoff will exist in the Vought Cinematic Universe, yet have a tone and style all its own,” Kripke said of the spinoff. “It’s our take on a college show, with an ensemble of fascinating, complicated, and sometimes deadly Young Supes. Michele and Tara are stone-cold geniuses, we’re thrilled to have them steer this ship, and grateful to Sony and Amazon for the opportunity. We love this show and can’t wait for you to see it. Also, ‘Baywatch Nights’ spun-off from ‘Baywatch,’ and it had vampires. Vampires!”

Jaz Sinclair (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), Lizze Broadway (Bones), Shane Paul McGhie (Deputy), Aimee Carrero (Elena of Avalor), Reina Hardesty (Brockmire), and Maddie Phillips (Teenage Bounty Hunters) have all previously been announced to star in The Boys spinoff series.

Meanwhile, on the other side of The Boys: G-Men, the main series of The Boys will soon enter its first series following a recent Emmy nomination for Outstanding Drama Series. Coming courtesy of Amazon Prime, The Boys is based on the comic book of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. The series is set in a universe where superpowered individuals are recognized as heroes by the general public and owned by powerful corporation Vought International, which markets and monetizes them. Outside of their heroic personas, most are arrogant and corrupt. The series primarily focuses on two groups: The Seven, Vought International’s premier superhero team, and the titular Boys, vigilantes looking to keep the corrupted heroes under control.

Starring an ensemble cast that includes Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Laz Alonso, Tomer Capon and Karen Fukuhara as the titular vigilantes, and Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Dominique McElligott, Chace Crawford, Jessie T. Usher and Nathan Mitchell as members of the “Seven”, The Boys has been met with critical acclaim for its unorthodox, satirical approach to the superhero genre. The third series will add several new characters to the already stacked roster, including Jensen Ackles as former superhero Soldier Boy.

The Boys season 3 has not yet been given a premiere date. This comes to us courtesy of Deadline.
