The Lotus Eaters in the Odyssey

Some of the most popular and famous Greek myths are from Homer’s Odyssey. In this epic poem, there is a place called the Lotus Eaters. These people were given a flower that had an enticing aroma and taste from their food. The lotus eater’s lotus plant was also pollinated by bees because they were really good at making honey.

However, it also helped that they lived in the middle of the ocean, away from any other people. Which meant that there was nothing to steal or destroy. The lotus eaters’ inherited their food from their mother, who inherited theirs from theirs. As long as they did not go near other people, there was no reason for anyone to invade their island. On this island, the lotus eaters could live peacefully and enjoy life to its fullest extent.
