Lori Loughlin Pays College Tuition for Two Students Ahead of Acting Return

With Lori Loughlin hoping to put the past behind her and make amends for her involvement in 2019’s college admissions scandal, the actress has donated $500,000 to pay the college tuition fees for two students. That amount is not coincidental, as Loughlin and her husband, Mossimo Giannulli, paid that amount to have their two daughters unlawfully admitted to the University of Southern California. Loughlin served two months in prison with Giannulli having served five, with both also ordered to pay $400,000 worth of fines.

It’s now been reported that Loughlin will also be paying the entire four-year tuition fees for two unnamed students, a choice that was not court-ordered. According to Entertainment Tonight, the Full House star has “privately arranged to put two students through four years of college, and has paid their tuition and expenses totaling over $500,000. Lori has also continued her work with Project Angel Food. She is optimistic about her future and is hopeful she can move forward.”

The news comes shortly after the reveal that Loughlin will return to acting. She will be reprising her role from When Calls the Heart in GAC Family’s spinoff series When Hope Calls. This is significant as Loughlin was fired from playing the same role on the original Hallmark Channel series after her involvement in the scandal was revealed. In a statement given to ET, the Hallmark Channel iterated that she won’t be coming back to When Calls the Heart or any other Hallmark projects.

“Hallmark Channel has not cast Lori Loughlin in any current projects, including When Calls the Heart, nor do we have any plans to cast her in the future,” the statement says. “She was cast by GAC Family, a wholly separate cable network not affiliated with Hallmark Channel or Crown Media Family Networks.”

Lori Loughlin was also fired by Netflix from her role in Fuller House, ending her decades-long run as the Aunt Becky character that first appeared in Full House. As a result, she did not get to appear in the final set of episodes or the series finale, though her co-stars said her presence was still felt on the set. There’s no more Fuller House in development, so we probably won’t see Loughlin back as Becky Katsopolis, unless of course Fullest House gets the greenlight somewhere down the line.

Another celebrity caught up in the college admissions scandal was Felicity Huffman. Unlike Loughlin, Huffman did not initially fight the charges, instead pleading guilty and getting a two-week jail sentence. She served her time and has similarly been working on resuming her own acting career. Last year, it was reported that she was set to lead an untitled comedy project set in the world of minor league baseball for ABC.

Olivia Jade, one of Loughlin’s two daughters enrolled into USC, has also moved on. She dropped out of USC and picked back up as a social media influencer. Recently, she joined the cast of Dancing with the Stars to be seen on the biggest platform yet. It seems likely we’ll be seeing more of her on the small screen in the future as well. This news comes to us from Entertainment Tonight.
