Don Mancini Teases Chucky Season 2 With New Poster

Don Mancini has just dropped a friendly reminder that Chucky will return in 2022. Last year, horror’s most popular killer doll was given his own TV series to air on Syfy and USA Network, following a series of films that culminated with 2017’s Cult of Chucky. The new show was a hit with fans as Chucky has done very well with his transition to the small screen, prompting a renewal with fans eagerly awaiting the second season.

On Twitter, Mancini posted a subtle poster for Chucky 2, what he’s apparently calling the show’s second season. Under the title logo is the year 2022, reminding fans that the Chuckster will be slicing and dicing his way back onto television sometime this year. It’s unclear when we’ll see any actual sneak peek photo or footage from season 2, but the poster is a nice tease that signifies that there’s more to come. You can check it out below.

MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY

The Chucky series was created by Don Mancini, who created Chucky, served as a screenwriter on every movie (sans the remake), and directed Seed, Curse, and Cult of Chucky. It brings back Brad Dourif as the voice of the killer doll with the new cast introducing Zackary Arthur, Teo Briones, Alyvia Alyn Lind, and Björgvin Arnarson. Franchise favorites are also featured like Jennifer Tilly, Fiona Dourif, Alex Vincent, and Christine Elise.

In the new show, Chucky commits a series of mysterious murders in a quiet city in New Jersey, coming into the picture when 14-year-old Jake Wheeler purchases what he believes to be an ordinary Good Guy doll at a yard sale. He soon learns that serial killer Charles Lee Ray has possessed the doll as Jake, and through the series, we also get to know more of the real Chucky’s backstory.

The Chucky Team Is Actively Working Hard on Season 2

Don Mancini is currently fleshing out the story for Chucky season 2. Last week, he had provided another subtle update on his Instagram account. He posted a photo of himself with series star Zackary Arthur and noted that they were having a story conference about season 2. Of course, Mancini isn’t providing any more details to the fans beyond that, but it does show that everyone is currently putting season 2 together.

“We’re thrilled to start pulling the strings on a second season of puppet mayhem with Chucky,” Mancini in a statement when Chucky was renewed. “Many thanks to our partners at USA, SYFY, and UCP for their incredible support and guidance bringing Chucky to the small screen, bigger than ever. And to the fans, Chucky sends his still-undying thanks, and a message: ‘This isn’t over, not by a long shot. You better watch your backs in 2022.'”

You can watch the first season of Chucky on Peacock. Season 2 does not yet have a release date but it will arrive sometime in 2022.
