On Sunday, April 3, celebrity and bridal stylist Micaela Erlanger got married to William “Mac” Osborne in Miami at the historic Vizcaya Museum & Gardens — and she wore three custom Prada looks for the occasion. It’s no surprise that the stylist’s wedding fashion was a sight to behold, as she’s responsible for some of the most celebrated red carpet looks — from Lupita Nyong’o’s 2014 Oscars Prada dress to many of Diane Kruger’s luxe gowns at the Cannes Film Festival.
For Erlanger’s big day, she chose an ethereal custom Prada couture gown made of ivory silk georgette and embellished with a lily-of-the-valley motif. With its off-the-shoulder silhouette and delicate crystal beading, the look set the tone for a glamorous wedding weekend.
Both Erlanger and Osborne’s ceremony outfits had a sentimental touch: they were embroidered with the couple’s initials on the interior in gold thread and with pearls from Erlanger’s great-great-grandmother’s wedding gown from 1900.
Erlanger accessorized with elegant Fred Leighton teardrop diamond earrings. The jeweler also made her vintage hair combs, as well as mother-of-pearl shirt studs and cufflinks for Osborne. And Erlanger designed her own De Beers Forevermark diamond eternity band as part of her new collaboration with the label.
The bride’s second look was a dreamy strapless floor-length gown with a wispy feathered skirt, adorned with silver beads and a bow at the waist. Her last outfit for the reception was a flirty beaded bandeau and miniskirt, finished off with white satin sandals and a gemstone-encrusted tiara.
If that sounds like a fashion fantasy, her bridesmaids’ dresses — in varying shades of mint — were equally breathtaking. One such bridesmaid was Nyong’o, Erlanger’s longtime client, whose floor-length dress was covered in sequins from head to toe and finished with satin ties at the shoulders. As she twirled on the dance floor, it was clear her outfit could work just as well for a red carpet. All the bridesmaids wore custom gowns by Markarian.
Though Erlanger sourced pieces from the Versace archives, vintage Christian Dior Haute Couture, and Christian Siriano for her rehearsal dinner and welcome events, she ultimately chose Prada to dress her and Osborne on their wedding day from start to finish.
“As a celebrity stylist, I have had the pleasure of working with so many brands over the years but Prada and its team hold a very special place in my heart,” she told Vogue. “Given the pandemic, we worked closely over three years to custom design my couture wedding gown, my reception gown, and my after-party look, as well as [husband] Mac’s two custom tuxedos. I flew back and forth to Milan for my fittings and had the best time collaborating with them. The team went above and beyond to make my dreams a reality.”
The couple postponed their wedding twice due to the pandemic and ended up eloping in St. Barth’s in August 2021. For their big 2022 celebration, they hosted a party following the ceremony with performances from musician Common and award-winning composer Justin Paul of “La La Land” and “Dear Evan Hansen.”
