The film ” Fantastic Beasts 3: The Secrets of Dumbledore ” started at the home box office with very modest results. It grossed only $6 million from preview screenings the night before its wide release.

” Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them ” grossed $8.7 million in the same period, taking it to $74 million in its opening weekend. Fantastic Beasts 2: The Crimes of Grindelwald grossed $9.1 million in pre-release screenings and made $62 million on its opening weekend.

Note that the third series debuted in 22 countries over the weekend and grossed a total of $58 million, including earnings in China of just $10 million. Chinese censors demanded that the film be edited to remove references to non-traditional sexual relations between the two main characters.
