Megan Fox Opens Up About Supporting Son Noah

Megan Fox spoke about her son Noah in an emotional interview with Glamour UK, opening up about her love for her son and the struggles he still faces due to the way he chooses to dress and present himself.

Noah, who is 9-years-old, “started wearing dresses when he was about two,” said Fox, who has long been open about her support for her son’s fashion choices and gender expression. She told Glamour UK that she “bought a bunch of books” on parenting and allyship to better understand her child. “Some of the books are written by transgender children. Some of the books are just about how you can be a boy and wear a dress; you can express yourself through your clothing however you want,” she added. “And that doesn’t even have to have anything to do with your sexuality.”

She’s also made an effort to keep her children off social media to protect them from the world’s inevitable judgment. “From the time they were very young, I’ve incorporated those things into their daily lives so that nobody feels like they are weird or strange or different,” she said. “I can’t control the way other people react to my children. I can’t control the things that other children—that they go to school with—have been taught and then repeat to them. That’s also why I don’t really put my children on Instagram or social media.”

Still, she said, despite her best efforts, Noah has faced challenges. “I do have a child that suffers,” she said. “I have a lot of worries about that, because I just wish that humanity was not like this,” she said. “Although my kid is so brave and my child is so brave and I know that they’ve chosen this journey for a reason. It’s just hard as a mom.”

Her love and pride shone through in the interview as she gushed over her son’s talent, along with her concern for his well-being in a judgmental world. “Noah is an unbelievable pianist. He can learn Mozart’s concerto in an hour,” she said. “I want people to see that, but I also don’t want the world to have access to this gentle soul and say all the things that we all know they’re going to say.”

This isn’t the first time Fox has addressed Noah’s clothing choices and gender expression. On an episode of The Talk in 2019, the mom of three shared that she was trying to teach her oldest son — who’s obsessed with fashion — to wear whatever he wants without feeling self-conscious.

“He likes to wear dresses sometimes, and I send him to a really liberal, hippie school, but even there — here in California — he still has little boys going, ‘Boys don’t wear dresses’ or ‘Boy don’t wear pink,'” she said. “And so, we’re going through that now, where I’m trying to teach him to be confident, no matter what anyone else says.”

Although Noah stopped wearing dresses for a period of time, he eventually sported one at school and got mixed reactions.

“He just wore [a dress] two days ago to school, and he came home, and I was like, ‘How was it? Did any of the friends at school have anything to say?'” she explained. Although Noah told his mom that some of the boys laughed at him when he walked into the room, he couldn’t care less. “I don’t care,” he said. “I love dresses too much.”

Megan and her family have long been open about their decision to support their son. Back in September 2017, Megan’s husband, Brian Austin Green, told Pipeline that he doesn’t care what clothing his son wears. “My son, he’s 4. I’ve heard from some people that they don’t agree. They don’t agree with him wearing dresses,” said Green. “To them I say, ‘I don’t care.’ He’s 4, and if he wants to wear it, then he wears it. It’s dresses or goggles or slippers — whatever. It’s his life. They’re not my clothes.”

The bottom line? It’s so great that both of Noah’s parents support his love of fashion and encourage him to wear whatever he wants. If more parents expressed unconditional support and love for their children (particularly regarding something as simple as clothing choices), then perhaps the world would be a far better and more understanding place.
