Stranger Things World Premiere Delivers Hugely Positive Reaction

Stranger Things Season 4 is coming, and those who have seen the first episode have called it the “scariest outing yet” for Eleven and the gang.

Netflix

There is a lot of anticipation ahead of the arrival of Netflix dropping the first half of Stranger Things‘ penultimate fourth season at the end of this month. Last night saw the world premiere of the first episode of the season, which was screened for cast and crew members as well as a small number of media members. When a number of reactions were subsequently shared on social media, there was nothing short of a perfect positive wave of praise for the long awaited return of the series.

There have been a number of reports over the last month regarding the amount of money that has been spent by Netflix on the show, said to be around $30 million per episode, and it looks like the gamble has paid off with the opening chapter of season four being overwhelmingly called “the scariest outing yet”, a “return to form” and “thrilling and horrifying.” All this should steady the nerves of Netflix bosses after the streamer has had a rough ride in the last few weeks for, among other things, overspending.

MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY

Stranger Things is heading towards a conclusion, and that is likely to arrive sometime in the next year or so, but for now all eyes are firmly on the arrival of the first half of season four, which has promised to reveal more about Eleven’s past, take the characters deeper into the Upside-Down, and feature an all new villain to terrorize the Hawkins residents. Heading into those episodes, here are some of the things that have been said about the first episode of the season.

Stranger Things Season 4 Episodes Are Massive

Netflix

As promised, it looks like the new episodes of Stranger Things are going to deliver almost feature length episodes, with the first coming in at 75 minutes long. The Duffer Brothers have made it clear that this season is massive at almost the double the length of all previous seasons, and that alone helps to explains where some of that $30 million an episode has gone. For fans who have been waiting for the show’s return, the expectation has just been turned up to 11.

While the series is now heading towards one final season after this year’s episodes, the Duffer Brothers have assured fans that the world of Stranger Things still has a lot of stories to tell. Matt Duffer previously said:

“We haven’t told anyone our plans! Not even Netflix! We have some ideas. In terms of if we were to do any sort of a spin-off, or any continuation of Stranger Things, for us the bar was always, ‘Is the idea exciting enough that we feel the pull of wanting to do it again?’ I want to feel the pull of, ‘God, I really want to do this. I feel really, really excited about this.’ So that’s why we’re being careful about what that is and whether we move forward with it or not.”

Stranger Things Season 4 drops its first episodes on Netflix on May 27.
