HBO Reveals First Look at The Last of Us

HBO’s The Last of Us is coming along nicely, with a new shot from the series revealed at Summer Game Fest. Neil Druckmann, creator of the video game and co-developer of the series, was present at the video game festival to share some updates on the show, which IGN reported.

The game, released in 2014, depicts the story of Joel, a grizzled survivor of a dangerous post-pandemic world, who has slowly lost his sense of morality after losing his daughter. Ellie, a young girl with her own struggles trying to find a genuine human connection, is forced together with Joel. The pair travel across the country in search of a faint hope for the future of humanity. The series promises to be the most faithful video game adaptation to date, which could prove true with Druckmann’s involvement in both the show and the game.

Pascal and Ramsay will undoubtedly have their work cut out for them as they give their depiction of the characters, with Baker and Johnson considered royalty for their role in the games. Druckmann assured fans that the actors won’t have mere cameos in the series but will be substantial to the show’s plot. How they will fit into the tightly woven narrative of The Last of Us is still unknown, but Druckmann is sure to handle their characters with care.
