Maitreyi Ramakrishnan’s Dress and Platform Heels on Fallon

“Never Have I Ever” star Maitreyi Ramakrishnan looked ethereal in purple for her “Tonight Show” appearance on Aug. 9, wearing a patterned dress and platform heels that matched perfectly. Plucked from Zimmermann’s fall 2022 ready-to-wear “Stargazer” collection, her minidress was covered in striking pink, purple, and blue florals and featured flouncy bell sleeves, a full skirt, pouf shoulders, and a high neck. The trim was also embellished with black beading for an added touch of glam and eye-catching dimension.

With input from stylist Joseph Cassell Falconer (who also works with Taylor Swift), Ramakrishnan followed in the footsteps of numerous other celebrities standing tall in platform shoes this year, selecting gray patent-leather Casadei Mary Janes with towering 6-inch heels. She finished the look with teardrop-shaped earrings and several metallic rings adorned with white, purple, and black stones to coordinate with her printed dress.

Upon sharing photos of her outfit on Instagram, hundreds of followers flooded the comments with praise for her getup and late-night talk-show appearance. Mindy Kaling commented, “I fainted,” while costar Ramona Young wrote, “The fittttttttt” and “Never Have I Ever” newbie Anirudh Pisharody chimed in with, “this is next level.”

During the interview with host Jimmy Fallon, Ramakrishnan discussed how her role as Devi Vishwakumar on Netflix’s “Never Have I Ever” was her first real job. She also divulged a prank she enjoys playing on people regarding Kaling, who is the show’s creator. “My favorite thing is to try and convince people that we’re distantly related because then they feel awkward,” she joked.
