Ahsoka is the latest Star Wars spin-off series to head to Disney+, and star Rosario Dawson has given an update on how filming is going.
Disney+
Among the upcoming Star Wars TV series heading to Disney+, Ahsoka is right up there with The Mandalorian season 3 when it comes to fan expectation and anticipation. Of course, the series will see Rosario Dawson reprising her live-action role from The Mandalorian, which she returned to in The Book of Boba Fett. For Star Wars fans who followed The Clone Wars animated series, Ahsoka’s live action debut was a moment that helped tie together more threads of the franchise, and it didn’t take long for Ahsoka’s own series to be announced.
Having been filming since May, the series is well into production now and Dawson recently gave an update on the show while promoting her upcoming role in Kevin Smith’s Clerks 3. In an interview with Screen Rant, Dawson was asked about Ahsoka’s progress she commented:
MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY
“Yes, we’re still filming it right now. We just have a couple months left. It’s going great. It’s really amazing learning martial arts in my 40s. [Laughs] It’s super amazing, and I don’t use that word very lightly. My grandmother used to say, ‘Amazing is two blue horses,’ if you ever said something was amazing. Because it’d be like, ‘No, amazing is two blue horses. That pizza slice probably isn’t amazing.’”
Fans of the Star Wars franchise have seen Lucasfilm delivering a number of hit TV series, while the cinematic output has languished in limbo since The Rise of Skywalker released in 2019. Ahsoka is setting itself up to be another well received addition to the franchise, not least for once again bringing back Hayden Christensen in the role of Anakin Skywalker.

Ahsoka Will Take Place Post Return of The Jedi
While there have not been too many details revealed about the plot of Ahsoka, it has been widely acknowledged that the series will take place in the same time frame as The Mandalorian, which is post- Return of the Jedi. For that reason the inclusion of Hayden Christensen came as something of a surprise to fans when it was revealed that he would reprise his role as Anakin Skywalker. Of course, there are two options as to how Anakin could figure in the show; as a Force Ghost or in flashbacks such as those seen in Obi-Wan Kenobi. For now, there has been no indication of which of those options will be explored, but just haven’t Christensen involved in the production is enough for many fans.
Ahsoka will feature many other characters known to fans through Star Wars: Rebels, including Sabine Wren, Her Syndulla and Chopper the droid. Exactly where Ahsoka’s adventure will take her is unknown, but with the story happening around the time of The Mandalorian there could well be a crossover between the shows at some point. For now though, fans are just happy to know that Ahsoka’s solo projected is coming some time next year to add yet another spin-off to the space opera that just continues to grow and expand in new and surprising directions.
