Strange New Worlds for Season 2

The newest cast member for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds has been revealed. On Star Trek Day, the annual celebration of all things Star Trek that comes on the anniversary of the original TV show’s debut, several new announcements were made for the franchise’s various programs. This includes the casting of Carol Kane in the upcoming second season of Strange New Worlds, and a photo of her in character as Chief Engineer Pelia was unveiled on the franchise’s official Twitter account.

Star Trek: Strange New World serves as a prequel series to the original Star Trek and is a spinoff of Star Trek: Discovery. In Strange New Worlds, Captain Christopher Pike (Anson Mount) and his crew explore new worlds in the USS Enterprise in the years before Captain James T. Kirk would wind up doing the same. Paul Wesley plays a new incarnation of Kirk in the series while the show’s cast also features Ethan Peck as Spock, Celia Rose Gooding as Uhura, and Rebecca Romijn as Number One. Also featured in the cast of characters are Jess Bush, Christina Chong, Melissa Navia, Babs Olusanmokun, and Bruce Horak.

Paramount

The first season of Strange New Worlds premiered on Paramount+ in May before concluding its 10-episode run in July. The Paramount+ team had been so confident in the show’s success that Strange New Worlds was renewed for a second season ahead of the premiere of season 1. The second season is expected to arrive in 2023, though production on season 2 has already wrapped.

“Four years ago, we made a promise to grow Star Trek into something it had never been before, and thanks to the incredibly hard work done by our many talented showrunners, writers, and directors, along with the extraordinary support of CBS Studios and Paramount+, we’re keeping our word,” Star Trek franchise architect Alex Kurtzman said when Strange New Worlds was renewed along with Discovery and the animated series Lower Decks. “Now our current shows are set up for the future as we work to build Trek’s next phase of programming for years to come.”

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds does not yet have a premiere date for season 2, but you can binge-watch season 1 on Paramount+, along with plenty of other exclusive Star Trek content.
