On the town with LaQuan & friends! Last night, the Queens-born designer brought together friends and family to toast to the LaQuan Smith for Cash by Cash App collection; the mobile payment service’s first-ever collab with a luxury brand. It’s something of a full circle moment for the New York-based label too, as the designer would use Cash App from day one in 2013 when getting his business of the ground.
As for the capsule itself, it’s brimming with pieces that are intrinsically true to the style of the 2022 CFDA nominee’s main offering. Aka: a sizzling, sexy, and confidence-boosting bomber jacket, leggings, bodysuit, and his now-signature catsuit. With the edge of New York City as the jumping off reference point, Smith enlisted Law Roach to style models Alva Claire and Jazzelle Zanaughtti wearing the items on the streets of downtown Manhattan, which are available now.

Last night, Smith was joined by his team and celebrity supporters including Lori Harvey, Christine Quinn, Symone, Leyna Bloom, Maeve Reilly, Jessica Wang, Chanel Iman, Jake and Josie Dupont, and Jazzelle for an intimate seated dinner. For the occasion, blank canvas venue Lightbox had been given a neon green makeover, with guests dining on pasta, steak, and fish at sleek mirrored tables accented, while a rolling video of the NYC skyline transformed the white walls into an immersive 360-degree setting.
Of the collaboration, Smith said: “Cash App was a crucial part of building my brand, so designing for Cash App is bringing my career full circle. In the same way that Cash App is making finance more relatable, this collection is about the relatable side of my designs—it’s effortless, everyday, iconic luxury.” The pieces in the collection (Cash App’s third clothing partnership to date but the first of this ilk) range in price from $150-$350, and customers who check out with Cash App Pay will receive 25% off the collection. Proceeds from the collection will also go to Year Up, a non-profit offering support and skills in a bid to close the opportunity divide for young adults.
