There are rumors of George MacKay entering the running to replace Ezra Miller as Barry Allen in the DCEU and new fan art shows us how it may appear.

Ezra Miller’s days in the DCEU may be limited, given the continued controversy that has been surrounding the actor. While The Flash won’t be getting remade from scratch to put someone new into the role of Barry Allen, there’s a good chance Miller will be gone following the release of the film. Given how easily the multiverse can introduce variants, a recasting of the role would be easily explained, and this had led to fan theories about who could succeed Miller as the new Flash.

Recently, 1917 star George MacKay has seen his name hit the rumor mill as someone who’s eyed by Warner Bros. to potentially take on the role. There’s nothing set in stone at this point, but that possibility does have many fans intrigued. Digital artist clemens.ink on Instagram is among these fans, and he has gone ahead and crafted some fan art showcasing how MacKay would look as Barry Allen. The potential casting does have some other fans convinced as a look at the comments will reveal.

Who Will Be the New Flash If Ezra Miller Is Replaced?

Warner Bros. Pictures

There remains a possibility that Ezra Miller will end up keeping the role of Barry Allen. We have seen from what happened with Batgirl that Warner Bros. Discovery would be willing to cancel a finished film, but at this point, they’re still committed to releasing The Flash with Miller in the lead. Miller has also offered a public apology for the actor’s problematic behavior and claims to have started therapy. If Miller is able to avoid further legal issues and troublesome headlines until The Flash is released in June of 2023, and if the film has a tremendous showing at the box office, it’s possible that the recasting won’t happen.

“Having recently gone through a time of intense crisis, I now understand that I am suffering complex mental health issues and have begun ongoing treatment,” Miller stated. “I want to apologize to everyone that I have alarmed and upset with my past behavior. I am committed to doing the necessary work to get back to a healthy, safe, and productive stage in my life.”

We’ll just have to wait and see what ultimately happens with The Flash and the future of the Barry Allen character. The film will be released on June 23, 2023, provided there are no more release date shifts.
