  • George R.R. Martin Congratulates the House of the Dragon Cast on Golden Globe Nominations

George R.R. Martin couldn’t be happier seeing the House of the Dragon cast gaining award recognition.

HBO

House of the Dragon was officially renewed for season two a couple of days after the August premiere at HBO. Season 2 production is expected to begin in early 2023 and last eight months, says Evan Mitchell, aka Aemond Targaryen, in an interview with The Face. ”We are going to be shooting for eight months next year. We are in the prep phase of that right now, which is why I’ve got my hair shaved off, for the wig adjustments.”

In a blog post, A Song of Ice and Fire author George R.R. Martin congratulated Emma D’Arcy and the stellar House of the Dragon cast on their tremendous performances and Golden Globe recognition. He wrote:

MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY

”Congratulations are due to House of the Dragon and Emma d’Arcy for their Golden Globes nominations, and to Milly Alcock, Matt Smith, and the show for the Critic’s Choice Award nods. Well deserved. Finger and toes crossed for all of them. But hey, when the Emmy nominations come out, I will be hoping that Paddy Considine, Steve Toussaint. Olivia Cooke, and Emily Carey get some love as well. They were all extraordinary.”

House of the Dragon season 1 is now streaming on HBO Max.

George R.R. Martin Says Certain Game of Thrones Spinoffs Have Been ‘Shelved’

HBO

After the unexpected success of the House of the Dragon series at HBO, interest in other projects in the Game of Thrones universe is quite high. However, author George R.R. Martin has said that the ongoing developments at Warner Bros. Discovery have affected the future of the Game of Thrones universe. Martin wrote in his blog post:

‘’Several of the other successor (Game of Thrones) shows that we’re developing with HBO. (Some of those are moving faster than others, as is always the case with development. None have been greenlit yet, though we are hoping… maybe soon. A couple have been shelved, but I would not agree that they are dead. You can take something off the shelf as easily as you can put it on the shelf. All the changes at HBO Max have impacted us, certainly).”

George R.R. Martin did not clarify which projects were shelved, and HBO declined to comment. However, it has been announced that at least five spinoff projects are under development so far, including SNOW with Kit Harington, The Sea Snake (aka Nine Voyages), 10,000 Ships (aka Nymeria) with Person of Interest writer Amanda Segel, Dunk & Egg with showrunner Steve Conrad and two animated shows. Whatever the cast, fans will be hoping for more shows from HBO in the world of Westeros and beyond.
