War Elephants Triumphant: Thailand Secures Spot in AFF Mitsubishi Electric Cup Final with 3-0 Victory over Malaysia

The AFF Mitsubishi Electric Cup 2022 semi-final between Thailand and Malaysia ended in an overwhelming victory for the defending champions. Thailand secured a spot in the final with a 3-0 victory over Malaysia in the second leg of the semi-final. This brings the aggregate score to 3-1 in favor of Thailand.

The match took place at the Thammasat Stadium in Bangkok on Tuesday. Thailand had lost the first leg 1-0 in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday, but they came back with the intent to win the second leg and secure their spot in the final.

Thailand started the game with urgency and took the lead in the 19th minute with a header from Teerasil Dangda. The home team continued to dominate the first half, but Malaysia had a couple of opportunities to level the score before the break.

In the second half, Thailand doubled its lead with a goal from Bordin Phala in the 55th minute. Substitute Adisak Kraisorn sealed the victory for the War Elephants with a goal in the 71st minute. Despite the efforts of Malaysia to mounting a comeback, they were unable to score any goals and the match ended 3-0.

Thailand will now face Vietnam in the final of the AFF Mitsubishi Electric Cup 2022. The first leg will take place in Hanoi at the My Dinh National Stadium on Friday. ​​

The finals will be started with the first leg on 13 January 2023 and the second leg on 16 January 2023
