Bengals’ Burrow: Chiefs the team to beat, but ‘we’re coming for them’

Facing the Patrick Mahomes-led Kansas City Chiefs – who’ll host their fifth consecutive AFC Championship Game this weekend – is a daunting task for any team in the NFL. But Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow said he can’t wait to visit Arrowhead Stadium again on Sunday.

“We’ve been in these spots,” Burrow said Wednesday, according to Kelsey Conway of The Enquirer. “We have the experience. We know what team we’re playing. … They’re the team to beat – and we’re coming for them.”

Burrow is 3-0 in his career against Mahomes, including in the playoffs. They last met in Week 13 when Cincinnati claimed a 27-24 home win.

The Bengals also beat the Chiefs in the AFC title game last season. Kansas City took a 21-3 second-quarter lead in that game, but Cincinnati bounced back en route to a 27-24 overtime victory.

“We have the best coaching staff in the league,” Burrow said, per Charlie Goldsmith of The Enquirer. “We make better adjustments than anyone. It’s about attacking what we’re seeing. They do an unbelievable job figuring out the best way to attack.”

“Last year, we found a lot of different ways to win a lot of different games,” he added, per Conway. “I just think this year, we’re a much more complete team from top to bottom.”

The Bengals are one of football’s hottest teams, having won 10 in a row. Their last defeat came on Oct. 31. Meanwhile, the Chiefs – who finished the regular season with an AFC-best 14-3 record – suffered just one loss in their last 12 games.

With Mahomes under center, Kansas City won one of two Super Bowl appearances. Burrow led Cincinnati to its first big game in 33 years last season, but the Bengals fell short against the Los Angeles Rams.
