  • Hulu’s Reboot Is Completely Dead as Search for New Home Comes Up Short

Efforts to find a new home for Reboot after its Hulu cancelation have failed, officially killing the show.

Hulu

It’s going to be a single season run for Reboot. Recently, it had been reported that the comedy series had been canceled at Hulu after just one season, this despite strong reviews and a highly-viewed premiere. The show’s creator, Steve Levitan, along with some of the show’s cast had been vocal about their hopes that Reboot would live on elsewhere. Plans were put in motion to shop the series to other networks and streaming platforms, as work had already begun on the second season. There were finished scripts ready to go which had been sent along to potential buyers.

Unfortunately for the Reboot team, it’s come to the end of the line, as no one else opted to pick up the series. Deadline reports that all alternative options have been exhausted, officially killing the show. Taking to Twitter, Levitan referenced the news by declaring that there “seems to be a wrap” on the series. He also told his followers to watch Reboot if they could find it, suggesting that a lack of marketing on Hulu’s part may have been part of the problem.

“Well, that seems to be a wrap on Reboot,” Levitan tweeted, using the hashtag #UnintentionalLimitedSeries. “Very proud of our amazing cast and crew and what we did together. Thanks to all who watched and said such nice things. Haven’t seen it? Check us out on Hulu if you can find it.”

Reboot Turns Out to Be a Limited Series

Reboot follows the cast members of a fictional sitcom who come back together many years later to develop a reboot of their show. The series starred Keegan-Michael Key, Johnny Knoxville, Rachel Bloom, Calum Worthy, Krista Marie Yu, Judy Greer, and Paul Reiser. Key also produced while Levitan executive produced with John Enbom, Danielle Stokdyk, and Jeff Morton.

Addressing the show’s cancelation on Instagram shortly after the news broke, Knoxville wrote, “It’s with a heavy heart that I say that despite getting great reviews and being nominated for a critics choice award Hulu has failed to pick up Reboot even for a second season. Pretty unbelievable. Working on this show has been one of the great highlights of my life, and I wanted to thank Steve Levitan and the entire stellar cast for allowing me to be part of this show.”

At that time, Knoxville spoke about how hopeful he was that the series would be able to live on.

“It’s not over yet though, as we tend to shop it around and hopefully it will find a home with a studio who believes in and knows how to properly support a new show as it continues to grow,” he said.

You can stream the first and only season of Reboot on Hulu.
