  • Is Prime Video Teasing the Renewal of A League of Their Own?

Fans of the series adaptation of the 1992 movie classic are still waiting for season 2 news.

Amazon Studios

It’s been over six months since A League of Their Own arrived at Prime Video, and fans are still waiting for news about season 2 renewal. Based on the 1992 movie of the same name, the series delivers a fresh interpretation of the real story of the professional female baseball league during World War II.

Once again, the story centers on the Rockford Peaches, one of the teams created to keep professional baseball alive in the midst of the war, with the men absent to represent the United States on the battlefield. Women take up the bat and put on the glove in this historical drama based on actual events, which explores the difficulties of being a woman in the 1940s, racial segregation, and sexual discrimination in a great sports production.

Despite the good reviews and a more than acceptable reception to earn its continuation, the streaming platform has not revealed the future of the series. And with productions as expensive as Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power being the company’s priority, other series seem to have been too low on the list of priorities.

However, fans are waiting for the renewal and wasting no time using social media posts to ask for more series episodes. And could they receive a pleasant surprise soon?

Amid the uncertainty, the Prime Video Twitter account dedicated a tweet to the series that completely revived the hopes of the audience, who wondered if this was a message anticipating the announcement of the long-awaited renewal:

“Spring Training is officially underway.”

Unfortunately, Deadline informs that sources on the platform reported that the post references the start of MLB’s 2023 Spring Training, but fans took it as a good sign to keep fighting for their favorite show to go on.

A League of Their Own stars Abbi Jacobson, Chanté Adams, D’Arcy Carden, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Roberta Collindrez, Kelly McCormack, Priscilla Delgado, Molly Ephraim, Kate Berlant, Melanie Field, Nick Offerman, Rosie O’Donnell, Patrick J. Adams, Patrice Covington, Sadiah Ekulona, Lea Robinson, Andia Winslow, Rae Gray, and Lil Frex.

Season 1 of A League of Their Own earned three nominations, including Outstanding New TV Series from the GLAAD Media Awards, Outstanding Costume Design from the NAACP Image Awards, and Best Supporting Performance in a New Scripted Series for Gbemisola Ikumelo from the Independent Spirit Awards.
