Chilli’s Son Supports Relationship With Matthew Lawrence

Matthew Lawrence has received Chilli’s son Tron Austin’s seal of approval. In a recent interview with People, the “Family Legacy” actor opened up about his mom’s new relationship, including how he feels about Lawrence.

“Oh man, I just like seeing her happy, you know?” the 25-year-old shared. “As someone who is now five years into my relationship, I love seeing humans connect and witnessing that genuineness. I feel that from him.”

He went on to add that Chilli is being protective of her budding romance with Lawrence. “We’ve only met a couple of times because they’re really building their relationship since she’s very careful about that kind of stuff,” Austin explained. He went on to add that the TLC singer’s willingness to be open about her romance “shows me that this is a very special person in her life.”

Chilli and Lawrence made their relationship Instagram official in January, but they were first spotted together in Hawaii in August of last year. Since then, they’ve been open about how much they’re enjoying spending time together. In March 17 interview with the radio show “Ryan Cameron Uncensored,” the 52-year-old even revealed she’s not ruling out starting a family with Lawrence in the future.

“You never know,” Chilli said. “I would never say that [I’m done]. I gotta be married for sure . . . and I’m not married, yet.”

Lawrence has also expressed interest in having children with Chilli one day. In a March 15 interview with E! News, the ’90s star said, “She’s an amazing person. She’s already a mother, she has an incredible son. I respect so much as to how she’s raised him. She’d be an incredible mother again, and I’d be incredibly lucky, but that’s way in the future.”

For now, Austin is just glad that his mom has found someone who makes her so happy. “I wish them all the best and I think he’s a great guy,” he told the publication. “I’m really happy for her.”
