The end of Succession is just around the corner, and it seems that HBO wants to say goodbye to its most successful series in the most epic way possible. After three brilliant and multi-award winning first seasons, the series announced that the fourth installment would be its last, and so far it has even managed to surpass its predecessors with the first batch episodes.
Released in 2018, Succession gradually won over the audience thanks to its excellent characters, great plot development and the awards it accumulated. Already for the third part, the show was one of the most watched and the confirmation of the end only attracted even more audience, breaking its own records. And it wants to leave while it’s still at its best.

In a recent interview with Variety, composer Nicholas Britell confirmed that the final episode will be almost movie-length:
“It’s 90 minutes. It’s a huge episode — like a movie.”
The final episode will arrive on May 28, and it will be directed by one of the big names behind Succession, executive producer Mark Mylod, who has already directed several episodes throughout the series and recently went behind the scenes for The Menu.
Succession centers on the Roy family, owners of Waystar RoyCo, a big conglomerate of entertainment, media and communication. The story centers around the conflicts surrounding siblings Kendall Roy (Jeremy Strong), Siobhan ‘Shiv’ Roy (Sarah Snook), Roman Roy (Kieran Culkin), and Connor Roy (Alan Ruck) and their constant power fight against their father, Logan Roy (Brian Cox).

Will There Be a Succession Spinoff?
HBO
Nowadays, for a series or movie to have a spinoff is the most common. For this reason, after the announcement of the end of Succession, many fans wondered if any of the characters would get their own series. Either in the form of a sequel, telling what happens after the ending, or even a prequel, perhaps following a young Logan Roy for example.
At the moment it has not been confirmed that Succession can expand its universe with another story, although series creator Jesse Armstrong has not ruled out the possibility. While speaking with The Guardian (via Deadline), he revealed he was “considering a separate show, potentially to follow one of his central characters, or to concentrate on just one of the several main themes.”
However, HBO director Casey Bloys was less than hopeful about it, stating “It doesn’t seem like a natural thing to me” when asked about the possibility of a follow-up show (via The Wrap).
For now, fans will have to wait and see if there’s anything left from the series worth working on for the future. But considering the enormous success achieved by it, it wouldn’t be a surprise to get an announcement related to it soon, especially after the finale.
Succession will be back on HBO’s screen this Sunday, May 7th for the seventh episode of the final season.
