A24’s Upcoming Films

A24

Last year, A24 was one of the studios dominating theaters. During award season, the company extended that dominance thanks to movies like Everything Everywhere All at Once, The Whale or Aftersun, which were among the most acclaimed and awarded productions of 2022. And things are only getting better.

2023 came with the debut of Beau is Afraid, Ari Aster’s latest film, being a filmmaker with a long-term relationship with the studio. Aster has released two of the most commented horror movies from the last couple of years together with A24, Midsommar and Hereditary, and although the project starring Joaquin Phoenix was a little different to those successful titles, it also gave a lot to talk about on social media.

Last month, the studio released Talk to Me, which not only has become one of the most praised horror films of the year, it has already been confirmed to have a sequel in development, which could bring some other big win to the company in the future.

A24 still has a long list of releases left for this year, including Sofia Coppola’s Priscilla, starring Jacob Elordi and Cailee Spaeny as Elvis and Priscilla Presley; another important title coming to theaters soon is The Iron Claw, a movie based on the story of the Von Erich clan, starring Zac Efron, Lily James, Holt McCallany, and Jeremy Allen White among others.

The company is one of the few that’s been allowed to keep working during the strikes, since most of their projects do not belong to big studios or streaming services. So, in the next couple of months, shooting is set to star for several titles such as Death of a Unicorn, starring Jenna Ortega and Paul Rudd; Mother Marry, starring Anne Hathaway; and MaXXXine, the third and final part of the X trilogy by Ti West, starring Mia Goth, Elizabeth Debicki, Lily Collins, Halsey, Michelle Monaghan, Kevin Bacon, and Giancarlo Esposito.
