Stranger Things Star Shares Bittersweet Emotions as the Series Nears Its Conclusion

Summary

  • Joe Keery reflects on the bittersweet nature of Stranger Things coming to an end, acknowledging the show’s impact on his career.
  • Millie Bobby Brown likens the show’s conclusion to graduating from high school, excited to embark on her own journey.
  • Production of Stranger Things Season 5 has temporarily stopped due to industry-wide strikes, causing a setback for the dedicated creative team.

Joe Keery, known for his portrayal of Steve Harrington on the beloved series Stranger Things, has opened up about the complex blend of emotions he’s experiencing as the show approaches its much-anticipated conclusion. With the fifth season earmarked as the final chapter of the Netflix sensation, Keery shared his sentiments during an interview with Women’s Wear Daily. Reflecting on the impending finale, he acknowledged the bittersweet nature of bidding farewell to a project that has been instrumental in shaping his career trajectory.

“It does feel like it’s time. It won’t be easy for it to end,” Keery said. “I mean, I owe my whole career to being on that show and all the opportunities that I had since are because of that show.”

“So it’s very convoluted. There’s a sense of relief, there’s a sense of sadness. I guess my goal is to just really soak it up as much as I can while we’re doing it, and not take any of it for granted because it’s been an amazing ride with such great people. And then once it’s done, move forward and try to just hold on to the joy that we had when we were making it…. Everything has a beginning and the middle and an end. It’ll be nice to have the end of this too.”

Millie Bobby Brown also previously shared her thoughts on the series’ conclusion. She drew an analogy between this significant juncture and a high school graduation, emphasizing her gratitude for the transformative journey while embracing the exciting prospect of charting her own course beyond the iconic character that propelled her career.

“I think I’m ready. It’s been such a huge factor in part of my life but it’s like graduating high school, it’s like senior year. You’re ready to go and blossom and flourish and you’re grateful for the time you’ve had, but it’s time to create your own message and live your own life.”

Stranger Things Season 5 Production Halted Due to Industry-Wide Strikes

Netflix

In 2016, Stranger Things burst onto the entertainment scene, capturing the hearts of audiences with its fusion of 80s sci-fi nostalgia and timeless storytelling. The show, crafted by the Duffer Brothers, wove together elements reminiscent of beloved classics such as Back to the Future and Alien, resonating not only with those who cherished these cinematic gems but also finding a strong connection with a fresh generation of viewers. As excitement builds for the upcoming season, intriguing details have emerged. Jamie Campbell Bower is confirmed to make a return as Vecna, an entity from the mysterious Upside Down realm. Vecna’s involvement promises to introduce captivating developments, particularly in relation to Eleven (portrayed by Millie Bobby Brown).

However, amidst the anticipation, a significant obstacle has arisen. The production of season five has encountered an unforeseen challenge due to the ongoing industry-wide strikes. These disruptions have led to a temporary halt in both the writing and filming processes, a setback that the dedicated creative team, the Duffer Brothers, previously acknowledged while expressing their enthusiasm to collaborate with the talented cast and crew once the circumstances permit.
