A trip with friends, food, and a cooking contest at a festival — what can go wrong? A lot, apparently, according to the first trailer for Tripped Up, the upcoming comedy from Decal starring Elemental’s Leah Lewis.
With only four feature films in her filmography, Leah Lewis is already one of Hollywood’s next big promises. After conquering teenage audiences in Netflix’s queer drama The Half of It, and doing the same with family audiences thanks to Pixar’s latest film, the actress stars in Shruti Ganguly’s directorial debut.
Tripped Up follows the story of an aspiring chef who travels with her friends to participate in a cooking competition. But what seemed like a calm trip for professional purposes turns into absolute chaos, leading the friends to strengthen their bond despite adversity.
Decal has released the official trailer for the movie, which is coming to theaters on October 20, and will be available on demand on October 27:
The official synopsis as follows:
“Aspiring chef Lizzy sets off with her three best friends in tow to compete in the prestigious Saucy Food Festival. What begins as a calculated career move quickly turns into a madcap misadventure full of food, fun and female bonding, where the girls learn that struggle can be the secret ingredient to success.”
Decal is an American distribution company launched in 2021, mainly focused on bringing independent films such as the comedy Ride the Eagle, directed by Trent O’Donnell and starring Jake Johnson, Susan Sarandon, and J. K. Simmons, to theaters and various streaming platforms.

Joining Lewis, who plays the main character Lizzy, will be Ashley Moore, Ariel Winter, and Sasha Fox as the amin group of friends. Moore made her television debut in 2018, being part of the series Alone Together, although she only appeared in one episode. In 2021, she played one of the main characters in the series reboot of the horror classic I Know What You Did Last Summer, starring along with Madison Iseman, Bill Heck, Brianne Tju, Ezekiel Goodman, Sebastian Amoruso, Fiona Rene, Cassie Beck, and Brooke Bloom.
Ariel Winter already has a long career despite being 25 years old, since she began acting when she was seven. Perhaps best known for her main role in Modern Family, her filmography includes titles such as Speed Racer, ParaNorman, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Phineas and Ferb, Elena and the Secret of Avalor, Young Justice, and Star Trek: Lower Decks, among many others.
Sasha Fox, for her part, is a relatively new face, since she had her first role in 2019 in the television movie One Fine Christmas. In 2013, Fox released a short film titled Superdate, which she directed and wrote.
The cast also includes Fox’s mother, model, singer and actress Vanessa Williams; The Prom’s Jo Ellen Pellman; The Walking Dead: World Beyond’s Gil Perez-Abraham; Awkwafina Is Nora From Queens’ Judy Gold; American Horror Story’s Danny Kornfeld; and Wizards of Waverly Place’s Justin Guarini.
