Bill Moseley and Kane Hodder Battle It Out for the Family Farm

Summary

  • Hayride to Hell is a horror movie led by Bill Moseley and Kane Hodder, following a farmer seeking revenge on corrupt locals.
  • The film was shot at an actual family farm and profits will support the farm’s preservation.
  • Moseley and Hodder are well-known in the horror genre, with notable roles in iconic films and upcoming projects.

Farmer Sam is doing everything in his power to save the family farm. While that may not sound like the premise for a horror move, that’s exactly what Hayride to Hell is. Lead by horror legends Bill Moseley (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre II) and Kane Hodder (Jason Voorhees in multiple Friday the 13th franchise projects), the film follows the story of a farmer who refuses to sell the farm that has been in his family for two centuries. As the trailer teases, Farmer Sam has a plan, and he won’t go out without a fight. Watch as he exacts his bloody revenge on unscrupulous local town-folk, including crooked cops, commissioners, and the villainous Sheriff Jubel (Hodder) below.

While the gory death scenes may all be fictional, there is some real-life inspiration behind Hayride to Hell. The film was co-written by Robert Lange and Kristina Chadwick, and shot at Lange’s (aka Farmer Bob) Lavern, Pennsylvania, Sugartown Strawberries Farm, which has been in his family since 1896. The film premiered in Phoenixville, a town nearby Lange’s family farm, late last year. While discussing the horror film with press, Lange shared that profits would benefit his farm, telling his local ABC affiliate:

“This farm has been my family since 1896. One of the reasons to do this, and where my passion came from, was I wanted to try to have a successful movie that could generate income that potentially could be put in an endowment for the farm.”

Hayride to Hell counts on two well-known names in the horror genre. Moseley is best known for his portrayal of Chop Top in the 1986 film The Texas Chainsaw Massacre II, where he portrayed Leatherface’s brother and delivered the memorable line, “Dog will hunt!” He is also known for portraying Otis B. Driftwood in Rob Zombie’s House of 1000 Corpses, The Devil’s Rejects, and 3 From Hell. His other notable credits Luigi Largo in Repo! The Genetic Opera, The Magician in Alleluia! The Devil’s Carnival and a recurring role on HBO’s series Carnivàle.

Moseley most recently appeared in the horror thriller Natty Knocks, alongside another big name in horror: Robert Englund. He will next appear in the horror films Night of the Missing, They Turned Us Into Killers, and Freda: Evil’s Origins; the two latter films reunite him on-screen with Hodder.

In the horror sphere, Hodder is best known for portraying Jason Voorhees in the Friday the 13th franchise. He appeared as the masked camp killer Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood, Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan, Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday, and Jason X; and once for the video game Friday the 13th: The Game. Hodder also starred as Victor Crowley in the Hatchet film series. He has also completed stunts or served as a stunt coordinator for numerous films and television series including Se7en, The Devil’s Rejects, Daredevil, and Monster.

Along with Moseley and Hodder, Hayride to Hell stars Graham Wolfe, Allyson Malandra, Denise Parella McDonald, Jared Michael Delaney, Shelby Hightower, Melanie Martyn, Brooke Stacy Mills and introduces Cedric “Budge” Casimiro. It is directed and produced by Dan Lantz from an original story and screenplay written by Lange and Chadwick.
