Believer in Funny and Weird New Video

Summary

  • The Chucky series is a classic and popular addition to the horror genre, with its third season offering new twists and turns, including Chucky’s attempt to gain power in the White House.
  • Chucky’s official Instagram page released a video where the killer doll gives his opinion on The Exorcist: Believer, showcasing a fun and unexpected collaboration between the two horror franchises.
  • Early reactions to The Exorcist: Believer haven’t been positive, potentially impacting the future of the franchise, while Chucky has expressed openness to a crossover with another killer doll character, M3gan.

Halloween is the spookiest time of the year, and it always brings with it a long list of horror genre releases. The third season of the Chucky series and The Exorcist: Believer are just some of those titles. But what no fan expected was to see the killer doll promoting the sequel to the 1973 classic.

Released in 2021, the series that expands the universe of the Child’s Play franchise has already become a classic every October, and its third installment is no exception. With the first episode already released, fans will be able to continue enjoying the adventures of one of the greatest villains of the horror genre for a long time and witness the incredible turn of events that took Chucky to the White House, from where he will try to accumulate more and more power to continue killing without consequences.

But the new setting is not the only peculiar thing about this new season of the series, but the fact it coincided with the premiere of The Exorcist: Believer, something that both productions knew how to take advantage of. In a new video published by Chucky’s official Instagram page, the killer doll offers his honest opinion on David Gordon Green’s film, in an unexpected but fun paid promotion:

Unfortunately, although The Exorcist: Believer may have been to Chucky’s liking, early reactions to the film prior to its release did not show the same enthusiasm, especially when comparing it to the original. Public opinion may reverse the situation, but for now, the future of the new franchise that Blumhouse sought to build with this movie is not off to a good start.

The Exorcist: Believer centers on a widowed father who has been raising his daughter for 12 years after the death of his wife. One day, the girl and her best friend get lost in the woods and return three days later with no memory of what happened. However, a dark force seems to have accompanied them, and to free their daughter from it, they must go to someone who has been through the same thing.

Chucky Could Collaborate with Another Killer Doll

Universal Pictures / MGM

This isn’t the first time Chucky has crossed paths with another horror franchise. In fact, within the genre, it is quite common for characters from some sagas to appear in others or even coincide in a film specially made to confront or unite them. And it could be repeated in the future for Chucky.

Earlier this year, Blumhouse presented a direct competitor to Chucky in theaters with M3gan, another dangerous killer doll who managed to conquer the public and become a celebrity. In fact, the creator of Chucky himself, Don Mancini, stated that he would like a crossover between both characters (via ComicBook):

“I haven’t seen the movie. All I’ve seen is what everyone else has seen and that’s very fun. I wouldn’t be opposed to it.”
