Nuggets unveil championship rings, banner

The Denver Nuggets unveiled their championship rings and banner on Tuesday to commemorate their first-ever NBA title before their matchup against the Los Angeles Lakers.

The ring has 16 karats of diamonds to represent the Nuggets’ postseason wins, the Larry O’Brien Trophy with a diamond-encrusted “Nuggets” written across it, and a silhouette of Denver’s mountain peak and pickaxes logo, according to ESPN’s Ohm Youngmisuk.

The ring includes a lever to shift between 2023 and 1967, the year the Nuggets were formed in the ABA. The color of the background simultaneously changes from white diamonds to blue sapphires. A retractable compartment on the left side of the ring also unveils the Nuggets’ championship banner.

After the team received their rings, the organization raised their first banner into the rafters.

Nuggets head coach Mike Malone helped kick off the pregame ceremony by expressing his desire to win another ring.

Denver swept the Lakers in the Western Conference finals to earn their spot in the Finals. The Nuggets defeated the Miami Heat in five games to win the championship.
