WWE Celebrates ‘316 Day’ with Sneak Peek at ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin’s Biography Special

In commemoration of “316 Day,” WWE has released a sneak peek video of “Stone Cold” Steve Austin’s upcoming Biography special on A&E. In the late 90s and early 2000s, Austin was standing tall as one of the most popular stars in pro wrestling history. Biography will let WWE fans get to see another side of the foul-mouthed, beer-swilling wrestling legend, and you can catch the sneak peek at the special below.

As seen in the trailer, Stone Cold Steve Austin personally appears to speak about his wrestling career along with his life outside of the ring. Many of his contemporaries will also appear to share their thoughts and stories on Austin’s legacy, such as The Undertaker, Mick Foley, and Vince McMahon. His career’s biggest moments, such as the first time he used the phrase “Austin 3:16” and when he defeated Shawn Michaels for the WWE Championship with Mike Tyson counting the fall, are also featured.

Wrestling fans regularly celebrate “316 Day” every March 16 in honor of Stone Cold. It stems from a famous interview with Austin proclaimed that “Austin 3:16 says I just whipped your ass,” a catchphrase that would be brandished on millions of T-shirts sold by the company at the time. WWE has been posting Austin-related content all day long to recognize the day, such as a 3-minute, 16-second clip of Austin defeating The Rock in one of the biggest matches of his career.

Several wrestling personalities have also been sharing their favorite memories of Steve to celebrate the day. One tweet from his former wrestling rival Triple H reads: “Our first one on one match on a @WWE PPV..(The argument over who would be the heel was epic, lol). This lead to decades of Stunners, pedigrees, incredible crowds, tons of laughs & A LOT of beer (he drank, I mostly wore) Happy #316Day & thanks for years of memories.”
