To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the critically acclaimed, hugely influential HBO series, The Sopranos, the show’s official TikTok account has cut down each episode from all six seasons into 25 second chunks. Is such treatment really worthy of such an incredible saga? We’ll leave that up to you. The 25th anniversary of The Sopranos, which follows James Gandolfini as Italian-American mafia head Tony Soprano and his struggles with family and criminal life, is due to fall on January 10, with the official TikTok account stripping the series down into 25-second videos, with each one summarizing key events from every episode.

The Sopranos Left an ‘Indelible Imprint’ on Television
Created by David Chase, The Sopranos stars the late, great James Gandolfini as Tony Soprano, an Italian-American mafia boss based in New Jersey. Struggling to juggle his duties as a family man and the head of a prolific New Jersey crime family, Tony is burdened by the stress of the expectations thrust upon him. The series begins when Tony suffers a panic attack, deciding to confide in psychiatrist Jennifer Melfi, resulting in some of the best scenes of the show as Tony provides context to his violent actions and personal torments.
Alongside James Gandolfini, The Sopranos featured an all-star ensemble cast that includes Lorraine Bracco, Edie Falco, Michael Imperioli, Dominic Chianese, Steven Van Zandt, Tony Sirico, Robert Iler, and Jamie-Lynn Sigler.
HBO and Max are going all out on the 25th anniversary celebrations, with never-before-seen deleted footage and behind-the-scenes content already now available to stream as part of the “Sopranos 25th Anniversary collection.” Max will also partner with Alamo Drafthouse for special fan screenings of the show.
Zach Enterlin, Executive Vice President, Brand, Content & Creative, Streaming Marketing, HBO and Max, paid tribute to The Sopranos and the “indelible imprint” that the series has had on television culture and creativity ever since.
“’The Sopranos’ left an indelible imprint on the global entertainment culture and was instrumental in defining HBO as the destination for groundbreaking, award-winning programming. The many ways we will honor this 25-year milestone will allow fans to celebrate the Soprano legacy and pay tribute to the characters that have had such an enduring impact.”
If you feel that chopping The Sopranos into such bitesize is a disgrace, or if you have now been tempted to watch the show for the first time, The Sopranos is available to stream on Max.
