North Carolina star RJ Davis is returning for his fifth and final year of college eligibility, he announced Wednesday on social media.
Davis’ decision was expected after he wasn’t on the NBA’s list of early-entry candidates for this year’s draft.
The 6-foot guard is coming off his best campaign, averaging 21.2 points, 3.6 boards, 3.5 assists, and 1.2 steals across 37 appearances. His 113 triples were the fourth-most in the NCAA.
Davis’ efforts earned him All-American first-team honors, ACC Player of the Year, and the Jerry West Award as the nation’s top shooting guard.
With Davis officially back in the fold, the Tar Heels expect to be in the national title mix.
North Carolina added sharpshooter Cade Tyson in the transfer portal, while Elliot Cadeau and Seth Trimble remain on the roster.
The Tar Heels also boast another solid incoming recruiting class, featuring five-star guards Ian Jackson and Drake Powell.
