When speaking on The Official Marvel Podcast, Marvel TV head Brad Winderbaum teased that the upcoming WandaVision spin-off series is going to be a pretty terrifying watch. Agatha: All Along will focus on Agatha Harkness, and considering the Disney+ series will center around magic and witchcraft, it comes as no surprise that it will navigate darker territories. What fans are anticipating, though, is getting to know more about Agatha Harkness and her backstory.
Elaborating on the subject, Winderbaum noted how the series will have its fun and emotional moments distributed evenly. Agatha All Along promises to stray in a different direction than Marvel’s other shows while also being what Winderbaum describes as a “Marvel brand of scary.” To quote him from the podcast:
”
Agatha is really fun, but it’s really scary and it gets quite dramatic
. She’s an amazing anti-hero and that show lures you in with the fun of Halloween, and before you know it, you’re crying… It’s a Marvel brand of scary. It’s a Halloween show.
There are deadly stakes in this series
. It’s a fun ride, but it’s a dangerous one.”
Starring Kathryn Hahn as the titular Marvel witch, Agatha All Along reveals how Scarlet Witch’s enemy broke Wanda Maximoff’s binding spell at the end of WandaVision. Aubrey Plaza, Joe Locke, Emma Caulfield, and Ali Ahn join Hahn in the MCU Phase 5 spinoff series, released on Disney+.

For those who have already devoured WandaVision, Agatha Harkness needs no introduction. For others, she was portrayed by Kathryn Hahn as a quirky and nosy neighbor to Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff. Despite only being a supporting character, she emerged as a scene-stealer; her powerful witch personality and love of chaos only made the series finale more memorable. Speaking of which, Agatha was left powerless and imprisoned in Westview during the end of WandaVision, and the upcoming spin-off, Agatha All Along, will pick up from there and follow her as she teams up with allies and tries to regain her powers.

The Great Kathryn Hahn & Everyone Else in Agatha All Along
Kathryn Hahn will reprise her role as Agatha Harkness in the Disney+ original series. Her performance in WandaVision was truly enchanting. She created a sublime balance of humor, menace and vulnerability in a show that explored Wanda’s grief and complexity. Outside of WandaVision too, Hahn has proven time and again that she has excellent comedic timing and the ability to portray relatable characters.
Related Here’s Why Kathryn Hahn is Perfect as Agatha Harkness
Agatha Harkness became one of the breakout characters of MCU Phase 4 thanks to Kathryn Hahn’s performance, and this is why she is great in the role.
Agatha All Along will allow the actress to utilize her skills and expand upon Harkness’ mysterious past and connection with other witches. The series will have unexpected twists, moments in drama, as well as some fun music, because Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez, the Emmy-winning duo behind “Agatha All Along,” have written some songs for the series. Hahn serves as the voice for a couple of those.
Other cast members include Joe Locke, Aubrey Plaza, Patti LuPone, Sasheer Zamata, Ali Ahn, and Debra Jo Rupp. Plaza and LuPone will play Rio Vidal and Lilia Calderu respectively. The former is a warrior witch and the latter is a 450-year-old Sicilian witch, both members of Harkness’ coven. Locke will portray Billy Kaplan, a supernatural entity; he is described as a “gay teen with a dark sense of humor.”
