The Killers recreate Oasis’ iconic ‘(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?’ cover art

The Killers have recreated Oasis‘ iconic ‘(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?’ cover art – take a look at their version down below.

The Las Vegas band are fresh off their monumental UK ‘Rebel Diamonds’ tour, which finished with a record-breaking six-night residency at London’s O2 Arena on July 11.

After pulling off a spectacular manoeuvre by pausing their London show to celebrate England’s semifinal victory at the Euros, The Killers have once again gone above and beyond to demonstrate their affinity for the UK.

Now, the band have posted their take on Oasis’ seminal album ‘(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?’. It depicts frontman Brandon Flowers standing in Berwick Street in Soho, with the now boarded-up Selectadisc record store to his left. In the caption, the band wrote: “IYKYK”.

They added the title ‘(If You Know) You Know’ in the same white font as on Oasis’ second LP. Check out both covers below to see how well the band did:

This is not the first time Flowers has expressed admiration for the Manchester band. The Killers previously covered ‘Wonderwall’ at Lollapalooza Chile in 2018, with the frontman admitting he became a “shit-talker” because of Oasis in an interview with Phoebe Bridgers in 2020.

“I grew up idolising Oasis, and they wrote great songs, but they were also just big shit-talkers,” he said. For some reason, I thought to gain respect that was part of the territory.

“And that’s not who I am at all, but there were a few people I ended up calling and apologising to later on. Then there are still people that I said things about, and I still carry it with me. I still need to apologise to them. I did it to John Mayer.”

He also recently recounted meeting Noel Gallagher for the first time on the 2005 NME Tour, saying: “We were doing the NME tour and we were playing at Brixton Academy or something and we heard that Noel’s gonna come to show, he was probably there to see Franz Ferdinand or Kaiser or somebody but he’s coming and after the gig, we finish and here he comes, you know, This is one of my heroes, he walks in the door and I am just so excited.”

He continued: “He walks straight past me, straight to Vannucci and it was just, I was like oh shit, we better keep an eye on what Oasis’ drummer is doing, but yeah he was a huge fan of him right away.”

The Killers’ ‘Mr Brightside’ recently overtook ‘Wonderwall’ to become the UK’s official biggest single of all time yet to reach Number One, and the band looked back at the success of the single – as well as the Euro semi-final match – during an NME interview last week. Check it out in the video below.

Meanwhile, Liam Gallagher has spoken about the possibility of a ‘(What’s The Story) Morning Glory’ anniversary tour. He has just finished up the 30th anniversary tour of the band’s debut ‘Definitely Maybe’.

Replying to a Twitter user who asked him “Do you think you’ll do WTSMG tour next year Liam[?]”, Liam replied: “Fuck all else to do.”

He said in a later update that “NOSTALGIA rules”, adding: “You can stick pushing it forward up your bum you can stick pushing it forward up your bum LG x.” You can see those posts below.
