Gag it! Without a doubt, Alex Consani is the model of the moment. This year, the it-girl has made waves from her TikTok catchphrases, partying with Charli XCX in Times Square, and walking runways for brands from Chanel to Isabel Marant—just to name a few! She’s also broken new ground in 2024, becoming the first transgender model in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show—and as a VS Angel, no less. At Aritzia’s chic reopening party for its SoHo store, we caught up with Consani on her whirlwind year, holiday wishlist, and what viral statement she’ll say next.
You’ve had a huge year so far! How do you feel about your rise to fame and modeling prominence in 2024?
Sometimes, it just comes down to the goal of what you want to do. For me, I’ve always wanted to represent my community and my people. I feel like, with that goal in mind, I envisioned myself doing it—but not to the level that I’m at right now. I could not have believed it at all!

This year, you were the first transgender model to walk in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show! What was that runway moment like?
It was so much fun! And such a historic moment, being the first trans woman to walk that runway. It was so coveted by so many other women and trans women, it was just a really historic moment for me and my community. It was really great to have done it with the supers that had first started it.

We’re celebrating Aritzia‘s new SoHo store opening tonight. How did you pick out your look for the party?
I have an amazing stylist, my friend and co-worker, baddie, Natalie Tauger. She helped me pick this out. I was just trying to go for the opposite of winter, because I knew everyone was going to be in winter clothes. So, I wore a bodysuit!
What’s the secret to wearing the no-pants look in winter?
The secret to wearing no pants is, get a good tight. I’m wearing Aritzia tights tonight, and they are great. I stretched them real bad—no rips!

It’s almost the holidays! What are you wishing for this season?
I would love a Birkin. Just kidding! On my wish list, I would probably say getting to spend time with people that I love. I forgot the rest of the question—I just was so gagged at the Birkin. I want a Birkin!
