Supergrass announce ‘I Should Coco’ 30th anniversary US tour as Kelly Clarkson covers ‘Alright’

Supergrass have shared details of a new US tour, celebrating the 30th anniversary of ‘I Should Coco’. Find the details below, as well as a new Kelly Clarkson cover of their classic track ‘Alright’.

The new announcement comes following Gaz Coombes and co. sharing details of UK tour dates last year, which will see them play their critically acclaimed debut album in full alongside some other fan favourites.

News broke after the members began teasing a comeback online, and tour dates were announced for Glasgow, Nottingham, Sheffield, Newcastle, Birmingham, Cardiff, Leeds and London. Extra dates were shared for Bedford Park and The Piece Hall in Halifax, as well as a stop in Margate and a gig at Ludlow Castle.

Now, the band have announced that they will be bringing the tour overseas later this year – confirming six new dates.

The first of which will be held on September 2, and will see the band perform at the Teatro Metropolitan venue in Mexico City. From there, five US gigs are lined up, including stops in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago and New York.

Dates wrap up with a final show in Boston on September 12, held at the MGM Music Hall at Fenway venue.

Tickets go on sale tomorrow (Friday February 21) at 10am local time. Visit here to buy tickets and find a full list of dates below.

Supergrass’ international tour dates are:

SEPTEMBER
2 – Mexico City, MX @ Teatro Metropolitan
5 – Los Angeles, CA @ Hollywood Palladium
6 – San Francisco, CA @ The Warfield
9 – Chicago, IL @ Riviera Theater
11 – New York, NY @ The Rooftop at Pier 17
12 – Boston, MA @ MGM Music Hall at Fenway

The news of the international tour dates happen to arrive as Kelly Clarkson shared a cover of the band’s classic track ‘Alright’ – which appeared on that same album.

She dropped the rendition during the ‘Kellyoke’ segment of her chat show, The Kelly Clarkson Show. Check it out below.

With its release in 1995, ‘I Should Coco’ debuted at Number Three on the charts. Following the group’s appearance at Glastonbury later that summer, it hit Number One and sold over 500,000 copies in the UK. It also hit another impressive milestone, becoming the biggest-selling debut album from Parlophone Records since The Beatles.

To celebrate three decades since the debut, Supergrass will also be heading down under for an Australian leg of the tour. These shows kick off in June, with two back-to-back shows in Melbourne (June 7 and 8). It wraps up with a stop at Sydney’s Opera House Concert Hall and Brisbane’s Tivoli on June 10 and 11 respectively.

Speaking about the 2025 tour late last year, frontman Gaz Coombes told NME: “It’s cool, man. It’s been about a year in the making. It’s just such a great record and really means a lot to us.

“The great thing about it is that this record is part of our DNA. It’s mad that 30 years later, we’re still able to pull off that energetic, youthful chemistry on stage and read each other in that way. Although it’s a 30-year-old record, we all feel really connected to it.”

He continued: “It’s going to be exciting to get on stage and do that album as a whole for the first time ever. There are a couple of tracks that we’ve never performed live before, so that’s really cool.”

The Britpop icons split in 2010, before announcing their return in 2019 on a mission to “bring joy into a slightly disturbed world”. They were then on a hiatus since 2022, following them playing at the Taylor Hawkins tribute show at Wembley Stadium.

Supergrass were one of the drummer’s favourite bands, and the Foo Fighters star considered their self-titled 1999 album to be one of the best of all time.
