Hugh Jackman’s ‘Logan’ Lands New Streaming Home This April

Before Hugh Jackman hopefully suits up as Wolverine one more time in Avengers: Doomsday (although nothing has been confirmed yet), his best movie as the character, and arguably the best X-Men movie so far, just arrived on a new streaming home. After over a decade of playing Wolverine on the big screen, beginning with X-Men in 2000, Hugh Jackman thought he was done with the character, and put on the adamantium claws one last time for Logan

, directed by James Mangold. Logan was an emotional goodbye for Jackman — at least, until Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) desecrated his grave in Deadpool & Wolverine.

Logan is now streaming on Max. The movie joins a stacked line-up of films and shows joining the streaming service this month. It’s not just fans who think that Logan is one of the best X-Men movies, as the reviews also support that opinion. Logan is certified fresh at a staggering 93% on Rotten Tomatoes, which is the kind of score the MCU would kill for right now. Alongside Hugh Jackman, the film also saw Patrick Stewart reprise his role as Charles Xavier. Again, many thought that would be the last time he would play the character. Logan also set up the next generation of young X-Men, introducing Dafne Keen’s Laura, a.k.a. X23, and several other minor X-Men characters, most of which were never seen again following Disney’s purchase of 20th Century Fox.

Why Are There So Many X-Men in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’? I Think I Know the Answer

‘Avengers: Doomsday’ features many X-Men characters, suggesting the MCU will merge two iconic Marvel storylines for the team-up movie.

Of course, Logan wasn’t Hugh Jackman’s final outing as Wolverine. Last year, Jackman finally wore the character’s iconic yellow suit from the comics, alongside Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson in Deadpool & Wolverine. Dafne Keen also returned as Laura in the film. While many were happy to see Jackman return again, especially as the film left his MCU future wide open, there are some who wish the character was laid to rest in Logan. Mangold’s movie was an emotional farewell to the fan-favorite character. With Deadpool & Wolverine now out in the ether, Logan’s dramatic ending has lost a lot of its emotional punch.

Will Hugh Jackman Return as Wolverine in the MCU?

Walt Disney Studios

As previously stated, Deadpool & Wolverine left the door wide open for Hugh Jackman to play Wolverine again. At the end of the movie, he literally exited screen left after saving the timelines with Deadpool, before returning for Wade Wilson’s party in the final scene. With the knowledge that there are countless Wolverine variants out there, the possibilities as to how Wolverine could return within the context of the universe are endless. But, it ultimately comes down to Hugh Jackman’s decision. At the time of writing, Hugh Jackman hasn’t given a definitive answer about returning to the MCU.

However, the recent casting video for Avengers: Doomsday made a lot of fans hopeful that Jackman could return in the future. Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen (Magneto), Kelsey Grammar (Beast), and Alan Cumming (Nightcrawler) were all confirmed to be starring in the new Avengers film. While some believe they will only appear in the film to be killed off by Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom, it has still given people hope that Hugh Jackman could be among the next list of names announced.
