I have a hard time finding flats that don’t dig into my heels or leave me with blisters. As a shopping editor, I always gravitate toward stylish pairs, but I’ve been craving a design that’s actually comfortable, too. So when I saw Meghan Markle wearing them (she was most recently spotted in them at Disneyland with her family), my interest was definitely piqued. I had to find out: does this brand actually live up to the hype? Spoiler alert: I’m obsessed.

This is not a drill: when it comes to comfort, I’d rather wear these mules than sneakers.

As soon as I slipped into the Birdies Starling Mules ($110) at the PS offices, all the editors around me were “oohing” and “ahhing.” Yes, they’re stunning, but what really blew me away was the comfort. The quilted satin soles feel like little pillows under your feet. Truly, when it comes to comfort, I’d rather wear these mules than sneakers.

I’m being honest here: these well-made flats are worth every penny. I’m already planning my next purchase. They’re easy enough to wear around the house, but polished enough for a party. And it doesn’t hurt that Markle also frequently wears the loafer style. Read on for a closer look at my pair, and how you can recreate the Duchess’s look.
