All of Us Are Dead Renewed for Season 2 at Netflix

Netflix wants more zombie horror. It was announced at Netflix’s Geeked Week event that the Korean zombie series All of Us Are Dead has officially been renewed for a second season. A renewal announcement video has since been released online, letting it be known that a season 2 is definitely on the way.

It’s not a big shocker to see All of Us Are Dead get a season 2 renewal. Per Variety, the series was very quick to rise as one of the most-watched shows on Netflix when it premiered, catapulting into the Top 10 most-watched non-English TV shows in 91 countries for two consecutive weeks. In its first ten days on the service, the show pulled in 361 million viewing hours. There has certainly been no shortage of zombie fiction in recent years, especially with The Walking Dead still hanging on for a little while longer, but All of Us Are Dead has stood out and really struck a chord with viewers. It is the second most popular Korean-produced Netflix show behind only Squid Game.

The show was created by Chun Sung-il, Lee Jae-kyoo, and Kim Nam-su. Taking place in a South Korean high school during a zombie apocalypse, the series stars Park Ji-hu, Yoon Chan-young, Lomon, Yoo In-soo, Lee Yoo-mi, Kim Byung-chul, Lee Kyu-hyung, and Jeon Bae-soo. You can read an official logline for the series below.

After a failed science experiment, a local high school is overrun with zombies, and the trapped students struggle to survive. With no food or water, and communication cut-off by the government, they must use equipment around the school to protect themselves in the midst of a battleground or they will become part of the infected.

All of Us Are Dead Has Been a Huge Hit

Netflix

The series has been met with mostly positive reviews, enjoyed by critics and Netflix viewers for the most part. Its viewership numbers have been phenomenal, and while the cast had been hoping that the show would do well, it still came as a surprise for some of them to see All of Us Are Dead skyrocketing the way it has with its debut on Netflix.

“I didn’t expect this show to be this popular at all,” star Park Ji-hu said of the show’s success. “I’m so glad and grateful that many enjoyed the show. I’m wildly happy because all of us, including the cast and crew, did put our heart and soul into creating the show. It really pays off for all the effort.

Lomon added, “I’m so glad and thankful for everyone who loves our show All of Us Are Dead. I finished the script in one sitting and I knew that it would do well once I heard that director Lee Jae Kyu was in it. Plus, with Netflix in the game, I knew that it would work out and do good.”
