It seems like every season, Miuccia Prada’s celebrity roster for Miu Miu gets longer and longer. And not just in the front row, on the actual runway, too.
This season saw the runway debut of Academy Award winner Olivia Coleman alongside Emma Corrin, Louisa Jacobson, Katherine Waterston, Ella Blue Travolta, and Gigi Hadid. Does Hadid count as a celebrity? Obviously she’s a celebrity, but she was a model first, so is it weird to note her involvement in a fashion show? She still does them fairly often, but she transcended mere modeling stardom ages ago and she’s definitely made the crossover into acting at this point — we quite liked her cameo in Not Suitable for Work — so, for the purposes of this list, we’ll say yes.
There was also Liu Wen — another model who has managed to transcend mere modeldom, although we don’t think she’s made the jump to acting just yet — American artist Bunny Rogers — who isn’t exactly a celebrity, but isn’t a model either — French ballet dancer and actor Hortense de Gromard, Disney star Chandler Kinney, and Thai actor Emi Thasorn.

And it wasn’t just the celebrity ladies (and femme-presenting non-binaries, in the case of Corrin) stalking Miu Miu’s latest runway. A handful of non-model celebrity men were thrown into the mix as well including Jamie Bell, Noah Jupe, musician Donkey Kid, and our personal favorite, the twinky lead of FX’s hit camp dramedy thriller The Shards, Mr. Igby Rigney. We’re telling you, Rigney is this close to securing an underwear campaign with Calvin Klein. We can feel it.

Casting celebrities, of course, is a brilliant way of getting eyes on your collection and any designer who can afford to do it, probably should. Especially if their collection is otherwise lacking in style and/or substance, which was not the case with this season’s Miu Miu show. Honestly, what Mrs. Prada presented this season was an unrelenting parade of hits any fashionphile would die to wear — full of elevated takes on classic sports and athletic wear, filtered through her inimitable eye and bursting with specialness while still managing to be extremely wearable.
Well… honestly, she could stand to jazz things up a little bit when it comes to the menswear, but at least that part of the collection seems to be growing.
And those collaborations! Wrangler and New Balance? We’re obsessed. Gimme gimme gimme!
