Charli’s new Converse collab is in the stores, and… well, the internet just cannot help themselves from wetting their knickers! The pop star announced that her new ‘partygirl’ shoes were being launched in five colorways, and chaos erupted within her audience. The Instagram post consolidated Charli sitting on a rock in a snowy landscape, clad in a flowing, white dress; her dark tresses stark against the winter landscape. Center stage in that somewhat whimsical scenery is the shoe-a classic Converse with just a handful of quirks.

The caption was simple but quite impactful: ‘my partygirl shoe is available nowwwwww!!!! in 5 cute colours <3 go get themmmm! #teamconverse @converse.’ And just like that, the comment section blew up, filled with joy, confusion, and some eclectic thoughts the internet tends to come up with.
One of these comments was: ‘Who says I can’t wear my Converse (party girl shoes) with my dress??? iykyk.’ And indeed, when did sneakers stop becoming dress-appropriate, especially when they’re this cute? Another actual fan came to the party with: ‘I BOUGHT THEM CHARLI ILY,’ which was basically the summary of the whole comment section.
Nonetheless, a few of these international folks were probably left disheartened after realizing their inability to obtain these sneakers on their own turf: “But only for the US, friend,” lamented one in Spanish, as another pleaded, “THE CANADIAN FANS NEED THESE, TOO! RELEASE THEM ON THE CANADIAN STORE OR SHIP TO CANADA PLEASE @converse.” The struggle is real for those outside of the US; Charli might want to speak to Converse about globalizing.
One being of the sting also kept it real by stating it was to thank Charli for ‘making Converse relevant again.’ Ouch. Has Converse ever really been irrelevant? Anyway, any endorsement coming from Charli XCX can only do Converse some good really. Another user had already commenced fantasizing about all the styling opportunities: ‘I NEED IT these are cute as fuck, I can’t wait to see what other people can create with them.’ Classic sneaker magic—amazing opportunities!
And, of course, there were the noisy ones. ‘Last pic is triggering me,’ declared one in the comments with no explanation. ‘Are there models made for sheeps??’ queried another. W-w-h-a-t? Perhaps they meant “sheep” as in the animal; maybe it was a typo for “sheep.” One way or the other… that’s going to haunt us forever.
A few nincompoops aside, one fan caught all-that was felt by all: ‘party girl shoe party girl shoe party girl party girl shoe party girl shoe.’ Sometimes words fail and all that’s left is repetition of the product’s name as a mantra.
Indeed, Charli’s new Converse drop is absolutely trending, notwithstanding the shoe not being available for everyone just yet. And whether paired with a dress, worn to a party (obviously), or eyed from afar, the shoe is already making spectacular hype waves. Judging from the comments, it seems the collab is just taking off.
