Charli XCX Steps in Front of Aidan Zamiri’s Lens for ‘Nothing’

Charli XCX appeared in a new visual project called ‘Nothing’ on Monday, photographed by longtime creative partner Aidan Zamiri. The Instagram post offered a very short caption – “me for @nothing by @aidanzamiri” – and nothing else. The post drew over 306,000 likes. That’s a strong return for a drop with no advance notice.

Zamiri has been one of Charli’s most consistent creative collaborators over the years. His photography has run through her album campaigns, editorial work, and press imagery. That work has helped define the visual identity she’s known for. The two clearly have a well-developed working relationship at this point. A project credited between both their accounts, with its own separate handle, suggests something organized and planned – not a casual shoot.

‘Nothing’ is tagged in the post as its own account. That points to a distinct creative entity. No format, timeline, or additional context has been announced publicly. As of Monday evening, no follow-up from Charli had appeared.

That kind of quiet entrance is very much in line with how she tends to introduce things. Visuals first. Explanations come later, or not at all.

Charli’s last album, BRAT, arrived in 2024 and turned into one of the most discussed pop records of that year. It leaned on a stark lime-green look and a direct, confessional sound. The record resonated well beyond her existing fan base. New listeners discovered her through that album. It led to a deluxe edition, a widely covered remix project, and a supporting tour. BRAT also debuted at number one on the UK albums chart and earned Grammy nominations, including Album of the Year. It was a career-defining stretch.

That cycle has since wrapped. Charli has kept a visible public presence without giving much away about what’s next. A new visual collaboration with Zamiri is worth noting. It’s been a relatively quiet stretch on the creative front.

Zamiri’s reputation in the photography world is built on a clean, precise style with a slightly cool tone. He works with multiple artists and brands and has built a varied portfolio. The Charli partnership is his most high-profile ongoing association. Their images together tend to be controlled and spare. Both seem drawn to restraint as an aesthetic choice. ‘Nothing’ turns out to be a pretty fitting name for that.

What exactly ‘Nothing’ is hasn’t been spelled out yet. It could be a photography series, an editorial imprint, or something tied to upcoming music. Those answers should come in time. For now, Charli and Zamiri have put something out and let it breathe. Over 306,000 people liked it before any explanation arrived. That says plenty on its own.
