Crow-Armstrong becomes 13th Cubs player to hit for cycle

Chicago Cubs star outfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong hit for the cycle during Monday’s 5-4 win over Colorado Rockies after recording a single in the seventh inning.

Crow-Armstrong became the 13th player in franchise history to accomplish the feat and the first major leaguer since Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton last July. He’s also the fifth player to record a reverse cycle (homer, triple, double, and single) since 1961, according to Sarah Langs of MLB.com.

However, Crow-Armstrong proceeded to get picked off at first base with the Wrigley Field crowd still standing on its feet, prompting the Rockies broadcasters to have some fun.

“I absolutely put up great at-bats tonight and I’m proud of the production that I’ve helped have over the past few weeks,” Crow-Armstrong said postgame, according to Luke DeCock of The Associated Press. “But you saw it tonight: The game’s not over until it’s over. I did everything I could to help the team.

“But I also had a real lapse in focus and that really could have hurt us tonight. That’s what I’m talking about. Not going to dwell on that. Something so simple as someone gets in your ear and says that can’t ever happen again, and it can’t ever happen again.”

The 24-year-old hit a leadoff homer in the first before recording a triple in the third and a double during the fifth.

Carson Kelly (March 2025) was the last Cubs player to hit for the cycle before Crow-Armstrong.
