David Byrne adds more UK and Ireland shows to summer 2026 ‘Who Is The Sky?’ world tour

David Byrne has added fresh UK and Ireland shows to his ‘Who Is The Sky?’ world tour – buy tickets here.

The former Talking Heads frontman will now be heading to Dublin, Halifax, Edinburgh and Cardiff alongside his already announced headline slot at Latitude Festival in Suffolk in July. Tickets for the new shows go on general sale at 10am on Friday (February 6) – find tickets to those shows and the previously announced dates here.

Byrne toured Australia and New Zealand last month and is set for his first UK and European leg of the year across February and March, before heading to North America in the spring – including slots at both Coachella weekends.

His European shows include a mix of headline gigs and festival slots, with the musician set to appear at the likes of Open’er Festival in Poland and Bilbao BBK Live in Spain.

Byrne is touring his solo album, also titled ‘Who Is The Sky?’, which came out in September in collaboration with the New York City ensemble Ghost Train Orchestra. It’s his first studio album in six and a half years, following 2018’s ‘American Utopia’, and featured Hayley Williams, St. Vincent and The Smile’s Tom Skinner.

Weeks after releasing his album, Byrne shared a new single, ‘T-shirt’, co-written by his longtime friend and collaborator Brian Eno. He gave the track, written about the importance of helping others amid the current political climate, its debut while on tour in North America, where it was accompanied by slogans including ‘Make America Gay Again’ and ‘No Kings’. Byrne has previously spoken out about US politics, notably sharing a playlist called ‘The Beautiful Shitholes’ in 2018 in response to comments President Donald Trump was reported to have said regarding “shithole countries” in a meeting.

He kicked off the tour by playing the Talking Heads’ classic ‘Psycho Killer’ for the first time in 19 years, while Williams joined him in New York City to play Paramore’s ‘Hard Times’ as well as their collaboration, ‘What Is The Reason For It?’.

Last month, he covered Olivia Rodrigo’s single ‘Drivers License’ as part of the track’s five-year anniversary celebrations. In an Instagram post, the singer described Byrne as “one of my all-time heroes”, saying: “I actually cried when I heard his version of this song”.

The B-side of that single, which was released on a special edition translucent ruby 7”, included the live version of Talking Heads’ ‘Burning Down The House’ which Rodrigo and Byrne performed during the former’s headline set at New York’s Governors Ball last summer.
