Jennifer Garner will pick up the sai after almost 20 years in Deadpool 3. The Merc with a Mouth’s next movie seems to be creating its own multiverse of madness, taking the best from films like the most recent Doctor Strange sequel, The Flash and even Sony Pictures’ Spider-Verse. And it seems that he does not want to leave anyone out.
After rumors that Ben Affleck would have a cameo in the film directed by Shawn Levy playing his version of Daredevil, now The Hollywood Reporter informs that Jennifer Garner will also return as her iconic character from the Marvel Comics universe.
Garner made her debut as Elektra Natchios in 2003 opposite her ex-husband Affleck in the Mark Steven Johnson movie, which reception has generated divided opinions over the years. In 2005, the actress returned to wear the Elektra suit in her solo film, but it did not achieve the expected impact either.
Recently, fans were able to see another version of the character in Netflix’s The Defenders universe, where Elodie Yung played Elektra alongside Charlie Cox’s Daredevil, also being one of the central characters in the crossovers that teamed-up Cox’s hero with Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist.
Young recently worked with Ryan Reynolds on the first entry in The Hitman’s Bodyguard, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if he could also appear in the film. Same thing for Charlie Cox, since he’s now part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and has participated in a few projects like Spider-Man: No Way Home and She-Hulk while preparing to star in Daredevil: Born Again.

Is Deadpool 3 Making Fun of Multiverse Movies?

Since the first film, Reynolds’ Wade Wilson has taken advantage of the character’s characteristic humor to joke about the different versions of characters and sagas that have been built within the world of superheroes.
In fact, in Deadpool 2, some of the main stars of the most recent X-Men movie series had a very brief cameo inside Charles Xavier’s mansion. Although the specific details of the plot of Deadpool 3 have not yet been revealed, everything seems to indicate that the Merc with a Mouth got hold of his friend Cable’s time travel device and by using it, draws the attention of the TVA.
To avoid being punished, Wade makes a deal with them to help them on a mission that will take him across the multiverse to different realities, crossing paths with different versions of Wolverine played by Hugh jackman, various actors and actresses of the different X-Men sagas throughout history and who knows which other superhero genre stars.
With time travel movies and the idea of multiverses now in trend, it’s not a surprise that Reynolds decides to implement this type of story in the movie but take it to a whole new level, including all kinds of unexpected and crazy cameos to surprise the audience.
Deadpool 3 hits theaters in May 3, 2024 and also stars Karan Soni, Morena Baccarin, Leslie Uggams, Brianna Hildebrand, Rob Delaney, Emma Corrin, and Matthew Macfadyen.
